    What's oil cleansing?

My skin is only good when I leave it alone. And I'm lazy. So I guess it's a win-win for me.
  • MK - I blame Charleston.  Too many excellent food choices!

Water weight.  It'll go away quick quick quick!  It's pretty hard to gain 4-5 lbs of ACTUAL fat weight in a week.  Because that would be  an excess 14,000-17,500 calories consumed in a week.  That's a crapload of calories.  Don't worry too much!

The best thing in the WORLD.  You literally cleanse your face with oil.  It's bomb.  My oily, breakout prone, dry, flaky, red, sensitive skins loves it.  Seriously.

Good point. I have to remind myself of this too.

Good job working out though MK. I made it to the gym today and while I don't think I had a stellar workout, it was a start back in the right direction.

Good. You're here. What combination are you using? My first batch was castor and olive (25/75) and it wasgreat. Then I decided to be a big girl and get argan oil this weekend. When I told the girl at sephora what I was currently using, she looked at me like I said I was using my own menses, or something. I think I told her castor and coconut because I couldn't make the word "olive" appear in my memory. But still. She was not impressed. I thought castor was important, but she was all "you shouldn't be putting that on your skin." wtf?

Like olive oil? How much do you use? And how does it keep from getting your skin all oily? This is really interesting.
  • Hey ladies!

Y'all are all so awesome for working out. I've been doing good food wise since Friday, but I just can't get into the working out routine.

She doesn't know what she's talking about.  The castor is necessary--that's what does the actual cleansing.  The others are for...other stuff.

I use about 50% castor, 25% jojoba (light moisture, good for redness), 25% grapeseed (astringent and light moisture), and a few drops of tea tree oil for my breakouts.  Though I think I just squirted some more jojoba in because it was a little drying for winter.

MK, don't get down on yourself.  Just do better this week :)

The oil draws out the oil. It sounds crazy, but my oily acne prone skin has cleared entirely since I started doing this, too. Which is why I think the chick at sephora just wanted my money on $48 argan oil. Because my $10 concoction is the bomb, yo. But now I have OLD marks that I want to fade. Which is why I wanted the argan oil for my moisturizer. But she convinced I needed the argan oil as my cleanser, too, and now I'm not so sure. I think my castr/olive oil is a solid cleanser.

Please see above post for how much/what to use.  And then I massage it on, drape a hot damp wash cloth over my face and let it hang out until it cools to room temp, massage again, do the washcloth thing again...basically until I get bored, then you gently wipe it off with the washcloth.  Comes right off.  I use diluted tea tree oil as a "toner" after, so that definitely takes off any oily residue.

  • Whit, I work out so that I can keep on eating whatever I like.  Also, keeping tight and lean muscle is more important to me than just being skinny, so dieting alone wouldn't be enough.  I have "exercise" on my schedule the same way i have "laundry" or "groceries."  That keeps me on track.
  • Most specifically the AE thread. What did I miss?

    Thanks J!

  • Wow MuSu I fail.  I assumed it would be over the weekend, since I haven't been around since Thursdayish so I looked at pages 2-4. You look amazing in all of the pictures! Also love the BM dresses.

J&K eventually I think I should try the oil method.  I'm just very bad at any skin routines.
  • I've never bought a facewash in my life.

I'm pretty certain I'm doing it wrong.

I can't see that thread either, but I can see others.

Mica, I know that's how I need to do it. I teach after school program until 5:30, came home, made dinner, cleaned up, picked up around the house, load of laundry, now here it is almost 9:00 and I'll be going to bed soon.

::sigh:: Where does the day go??

  • JK - I appreciate all the information you give about weight loss and working, especially on the GIS board. I usually lurk there more than post but I have gotten a lot of info from that.

Whit, I find it easier when I have working out as part of the regular schedule, too. If I change into gym clothes at work, I always follow through.

Alright, I'm out for the night. Later!
