I went to lunch when this had 2 follow-up posts. I come back, and you people are talking about CFL - I had no idea it wasn't the same as NFL rules! - and planning trips to Niagara. I am so confused. The last thing I thought I understood was someone misspelling the name of the Oakland Raiders, and even that was wrong.

He's the one with the job that can actually support us, and he's a lot closer with his family than I am, so it's not as big of a deal for me to move 1300 miles away as it would be for him. Although, if we had known what a PITA getting a US visa would be, I would've made him move here.

Heh, no worries. He also mentioned something about the winters here that, being from the south, he wasn't particularly excited about dealing with if he moved here. I can't imagine what he's talking about...

I'm going to miss socialized health care though. I have to have that surgery I mentioned every year or so, and I have no idea if his insurance is going to cover it. Or where to find a doctor that can do it. Blargh.

Any, why do you think I moved to Chile? A big part of it was because I finished school first, but it was also because we weren't married or engaged yet, and it would have been impossible to get a US visa. We thought we wanted to get married, but we didn't want to rush things for a visa, so me coming here and then taking our time made more sense for us, and now any future visa process will be a lot easier because we apply through the Embassy here which is faster.

I bet cause it's pre-existing you'll get fuucked.  Insurance companies are so choosey.  Best bet?  Keep your ON healthcare somehow and fly home for it.  I know people do this for car insurance from province to province, so I can't see how there isn't a way to do that.

Srsly. We're applying for a K-1 right now, started in June. I had to wait 5 weeks for my background check which I didn't get before I got the go-ahead because I thought it expired after 60 days or something. So now, I won't get in until February most likely, and once I've done the adjustment of status for my green card, it'll have cost us like 3 grand. /rage
