I bet cause it's pre-existing you'll get fuucked.  Insurance companies are so choosey.  Best bet?  Keep your ON healthcare somehow and fly home for it.  I know people do this for car insurance from province to province, so I can't see how there isn't a way to do that.
Posted by mandysmear
Yeah, I'm hoping that because I have one of the old health cards that won't expire (no photo) I can come back if I need to and have it done here. From what I understand, you have to live here 6 months out of the year to be eligible for OHIP, which I obviously can't do, so I'm hoping I'm covered so I won't have to commit fraud, lol.

You can get temporary healthcare in the states I do believe.  BUt I think 6 months is the cap.  Not sure.  I have looked into it for H as he might go to places in the states for a month or two to do some stages at various restaurants.

I love the old cards; I've still got mine and I'm hanging onto the fuucking thing like my life depends on it.

I thought most of the pre-existing conditions exclusions were changing?  Of course, I'm sure it depends on your actual plan, for mine, there is a 6 month waiting period and then it it covered.  Or something like that, I don't understand the wording.

Tiff, that's pretty! Alix's and mine had more and more random layers of lace though - if you click the pro pics link in my sig you can see it better. Yours is like the toned down version of mine's skirt.

Mandy, not that I know of? Haha, why do you ask? I've never seen one, although obviously I'm in a big city, so they probably exist in the countryside somewhere. According to a site I just found though, we don't have any poisonous snakes.

Interesting. I'd imagine that's probably just for visitors though (which would make sense with the 6 month cap), I might be screwed since I'm technically immigrating. Oh well. I can go for ~3 years if I need to, and after 2014 they can't deny coverage anymore if I recall correctly. So I should be fine, just might not be able to breath, lol.

No one is talking about it anymore but I want to add that winter in niagara falls is beautiful, especially if its really cold and the falls get all icy. At night its spectacular witht he lights shining on it. Niagara on the lake IS nicer though, more up scale touristy than Lundy's.

Ohhhh. Well then she can come visit me and be safe! Air Canada flies here, FYI to both of you. From Toronto.
• Options
Air Canada is the bane of my existence; I refuse to fly with them. But Chile is on my list of to-go places. Santiago looks so gorgeous in an almost European way (says me who's only seen pictures and tv shows... but that's what I think).

Ahh those are beautiful!  (The pro pics and both of your dresses)

Hmmm Nebb..that makes me think.  We're planning on taking a trip to Montreal in Feb 2012, maybe we should make a bit of a detour and hit up Niagara..
• Options
Oh. Well you can fly something else then.

Santiago does have an almost European feel - it's not very stereotypically Latin in terms of the vibe it gives off. It's not always the kind of place that people instantly fall in love with because it doesn't have that many huge tourist attractions, but it's got some great neighborhoods for wandering around. And Chile is an absolutely gorgeous country as a whole, so you should come sometime.

What are you going to Montreal for? You should see if you can do any time in Quebec City. It's like Old Montreal but on gorgeous crack. It's my favourite place in Canada.

For sure stay in niagara on the lake if you do, the hotels are so beautiful. The prince of wales and the pillar and post are my favourite.

You could sell Quebec City with that description!

It's just one of those cities on both of our lists we want to visit.  But I have thought about making it a Montreal/Quebec City trip.

But, the main reason I want to be in Montreal is in hopes to go to a Habs game.....I want to go sooooo bad!

How long you been lurking?
About a year off and on I guess?  I joined TK right after I got engaged, found the boards about 6 months later and came in here once in awhile to find advice and be entertained.  Since the wedding though I've been here a lot more because I'm working on my thesis and this is a good distraction

When's the wedding? It was August 14

Why don't you post?  This thread is a perfect example.  I always seem to get to things late when everyone's talking about something else

Monday or Tuesday, yes it was.  It was  brutal.  It's like -2 today though!  And that is why Calgary is the place to be for Cdn cities anyway.  When those chinooks come in, they mean business.

We got married in the middle of January.  It was 0 that day.  We were doing photos outside... no one was cold.  It was just so beautiful.  All our OOT guests were soooo impressed.

So until I can make it to Cali or Chile, Calgary it is.
