<div>Nothing? You asked if I would question my friend for wanting kids - and I said yes. Listing that as a reason. </div><div>
</div><div>But, I do believe that her attitude towards her future shows that she is still a little immature, so that could be a part of her current attitude towards kids. I am not saying that it definitely is, nor that all people that say they never want kids at a young age are immature. But, when she matures and wants more out of life than just "fun" she could regret her decision at 21 to ensure she will never have children. Again, I'm not saying that is definitely why she is saying she doesn't want kids. I'm just saying that with how immature she acts, I would not be surprised if it is. </div><div>

  • I've considered getting my tubes tied. I really want to be a mom but I have no desire to be pregnant. I can adopt children and would be happy to. But every now and then I think maybe one day I would like to be pregnant so I'm going to wait until I meet & marry someone else to decide. Maybe I will want to carry that specific persons babies.

OK, let me rephrase. If you had a 21 year old friend who wanted to have a kid and was financially prepared for it, would you question her?

Everyone I know pronounces the r, lol. Maybe it's a regional thing.

  • Mmm, I love dark chocolate. I am *usually* vegan so I only buy dark chocolate. Milk chocolate is too sweet to me now. Yall, stop making me crave things, geez.
  • Evening everyone. Just enjoying a red beer. And on the poke/sterilization thing, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think she said anything to the girl asking if she was sure that's what she wanted at 21. She just said to US based on how this girl acted about other things, it seemed like a pretty big decision to make right now. Granted not everyone sees it that way, but poke sharing her musings about it on the boards is hardly bringing women down or anything.

<div>It would really depend on the person. Someone mature enough to really think the decision through that is financially/emotionally prepared for it, then not really. But - the same goes for if someone wants to get their tubes tied. If they KNOW deep down in their hearts that they will never ever want to have children, and they are mature enough to have really put thought into and fully understand the fact that it is irreversible, it's a totally different story. </div><div>
</div><div>And as far as your original question goes - saying that parenthood is just as permanent - I think it's a little more likely that someone that gets sterilized is going to regret their decision than someone that decided to have a child. </div><div>
</div><div>Not saying that they DEFINITELY will regret it. I want to make that absolutely clear. </div>
  • I pronounce it in the French manner. So does everyone else I know.

Another peeve is the mispronumciation of armoire.

Whoa. I was getting ready to concede on the point, after you said that you would think equally of a friend who wanted kids vs. a friend who didn't want kids. Until you went on to say the part quoted above. Exactly where are you getting that info? Because you are just completely and totally wrong about that. I'll qualify that. People who have been sterilized and have 0 kids have a very small regret rate. While people who have been sterilized that do have kids have a notable regret rate. But the latter is not what we're talking about here.

My ILs do this.  Except it's not just the R.  They add all sorts of extra letters.  Warsher, alvocado, there are more but I can't think of them off the top of my head.  I just want to beat them.
