  • About insurance:  You can likely get on FI's insurance right now under a Domestic Partner clause prior to your marriage.  Or you can get a job that HAS insurance provided for employees.

About having a fake wedding re-do:
Really very few people will go to a do-over - see below:

  • Like Bethrothed said, adults make hard decisions. So either JOP it (and invite your WP and wear your dress - why not?) and have a vow renewal/reception in June, so that way you can get on your FI's insurance and maybe or maybe not have anything covered, plus risk offending your family, or figure out how to take care of your medical problems on your own and have your wedding in June. Though with the way some of your responses are worded, I'm calling MUD anyway.

I had a friend who had a UTI which she didn't have treated and she ended up in the hospital for 6 days, on IV antibiotics, for a kidney infection. She has tens of thousands in hospital bills. Despite being unemployed at the time.

(As an aside - my state mandates that domestic partners get covered under their partner's health insurance, but my company refuses to do so.)

  • I say go for it.  My (now) brother in law got sick so my sister and him just did the courthouse thing (for medical reasons also) with immediate family and are having their big celebration at the end of this summer.  Her ceremonies will be separated by more than a year, but everyone understood why they did it and everyone is looking forward to celebrating my BIL's health as well as their vow renewals.  The whole in sickness and in health thing doesn't have to wait until you can get everyone together for the big ceremony :)

Have you checked to see if the insurance has a pre-existing condition clause? If so, your condition might not be covered since you already saw a doctor and because it started before you were covered.

edit: sorry, I need to learn to refresh!
  • it's too early for this...I am too tired so I'll just say *see above*

  • My advice: don't take advice from someone with 4 posts.

  • You're FAR too young to get married. FAR. You're young, that's why you want a "second" wedding. Way.too.young.
