My mom is the ultimate bun master. I fail at it, so I braid.

• I want to try the sock bun as well, but I have a feeling it won't work bc I'm inept at doing anything besides straightening my hair. I like the way the highlights came out, but she took wayyy too much off. I showed her the length I need it to be for the wedding and she said shed just trim the ends, but she took at least an inch or off... And my hair wasn't in bad shape either.

• I know what you are talking about! But I have obviously never done it.

I think with the sock bun thing there is a foam donut people buy that makes it way easier than using an actual sock.

• I failed at doing a sock bun, too, but it might be because I can't get all the layers to cooperate and go into the damn roll.

• Ha ha, Fezz, I wouldn't know except that was the second youtube video I watched.

[QUOTE]I fail to see how a sock bun is "idoit proof" You have to hide a sock with your hair. Am I the only one who thinks that sounds pretty tricky?

• I think my hair is probably well too long for a sock bun.

I just went to make macaroni and cheese for dinner. But we're out of butter for the sauce. So I just ate the cheese instead. I'm an awesome cook.
• Okay good. I'm not crazy. I can't even remember where I saw how to do it, I'm thinking Pinterest.

Probably paranoia on my part. I'm sporting a short hunk from hubby's CPAP hose and another short spot from a bobby pin that wouldn't come out. My hair is not user friendly. I can tie it in knots and it stay up in a pony tail or bun all day on it's own. And tangle... it tangles in a braid, I have to pick the tangles out of the little hairs to get my braid out.

• I know what you're talking about Fezz, though I never tried it.

Angel, that really sucks. I swear some stylists are on the diicck measuring scale - you say 1", they cut 3".

• I'm trying to decide the wording for the STDs so I can start writing them and hopefully get them all done in 3 months.

Just can't decide what I want them to say!

Didn't they used to make something to put a bun in your hair kind of like those "slap wrist" bracelets? If so I need one of those!

• Angel I feel for you. I had hair below my shoulders, asked for a trim and came out with hair that could not be pulled back at all. It looked like a mushroom. It was ugly and people thought I did it on purpose.

• I can do a sockbun, but my hair's too thin to do that roll down thing most of the tutorials I see do. I just put it in a pony tail, pull the sock over it to my scalp, fan my hair out in the circle and then just tuck it under the sock, lol.

Oh my gosh! I remember these. My sister had a few, but I always took them and used them as slap wrist bracelets instead. They really worked though. She could make a bun in my hair and in her own.

• Ours was as original as Fezz's. Though I wasn't thinking far enough in advance and used H's middle name (the one he goes by) on the STD's and his first name on the invitations. My poor great aunt thought I'd switched fiance's.

Most of our friends are comic book/film nerds, so many of them thought it was from V for Vendetta. But we chose the date because I'm a huge history geek and I freaked out when I realized the first Friday in November (which we were looking for) was the 5th.

People also showed up with Guy Fawkes masks. That was pretty funny.

• Good evening ladies.

I just woke up from a 5 hour nap. Clearly I was super tired. Right before I fell asleep I sent FI to the grocery for 3 things. He brought back one. Grocery fail.

Speaking of STD's. Someone once mentioned where to get the "jk we're not getting married yet" cards. If that person is in this thread, can you tell me where to get those?
