[QUOTE]I should add that anything I've ever purchased from there has been a cheap piece of crap in the end.

</div><div>This is what I'm afraid of. I don't want to waste even a small amount of money on something that falls apart. H is all about buying whatever's cheapest right now so we can get new stuff whenever we buy a house...but I'd rather just spend the money on something that will last us until we buy a house. </div>

I do think they have some cute lamps, from what I've seen online. Maybe I ought to go up to the store just to get accessories.

Leisel, we like their bookcases, but don't like any of the ouches orarmchairs.

Ikea is great for decor, bookcases, sheets, etc. I probably wouldn't buy a couch from there.

West Elm does not seem to cheap to me, but I like their stuff a lot.

I wouldn't buy anything from IKEA anymore. I did in college because it was cheap and that is what I needed. I still have a bookcase from there that looked great for a while but it is a pain in the ass when moving because it slowly just starts coming apart and soon will probably need to be trashed.

haha its funny people keep commenting about the bookcases and the worst purchase I made from them was that shitty bookcase lol. It was like $99 I think.

I've only been to IKEA once, and I wasn't impressed with the furniture.  I did like a lot of the other decor stuff though.  I just prefer nice, built to last furniture, which IKEA is not.

We used to go to IKEA in high school to hang out.  Ha.  We also went to O'Hare to hang out - that was pre-security when you could walk right up to any gate.

Leisel - the couch FI and I have is the brown colour on that couch - FI picked it out, I wanted the beige but it has grown on me. I like how it doesnt ever look used cause its so dark.

Ikea is a pain, whenever we go we always spend SO much but we hardly ever buy furniture, we waste it on stupid stuff around the house we dont exactly need.

Yeah, Ikea in my mind is for one time use.  you're going to bring it home, put it together and maybe get a year or two out of it.  If you plan on moving, plan on replacing it.  It will not come apart and go back together nicely.  It will not survive being dragged around your house to various places as your needs change.
We went looking at kitchen cabinets there.  They had some decent ones that were made out of real wood.  They were the same price as fully finished cabinets from Kraft Maid or some nice cabinet store.  The cheap ones were particleboard and laminate and were pretty much worthless.

I'm sad I never thought to go hang out at the airport in HS when I needed something to do.  Best place to people watch ever.

If you're over 30, you didn't need a boarding pass to get to the gates when you were in high school.  We did it all the time.

<div>I never lived close enough to an airport to "hang out" there, but this sounds like fun.  I always loved taking someone to the airport or picking them up when I was little cause we'd park and go in and wait at the gate.  I always loved to watch the planes come in and the frenzy of activity as they prep for one to come in, and direct them into the gate and stuff.  *I'm weird*.</div>

This was before 9/11 when you could go all the way to the gate without a ticket.

I remember being able to go and pick someone up right from the gate. That was so great because for some reason seeing them come out of the plane was more climactic.

<div>It totally was. Seeing someone appear at baggage claim is not as cool. Though the first time H told me he loved me was when he was picking me up at baggage claim, haha, so I suppose it's not all bad. </div>

I usually do too, Leisel. But that one has slipped my mind. I can, however, remember the day I lost my virginity to J. hah. great.

Well I'd hope. You really should know what date your wedding night was. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />
