Tips for a wedding in/near Beaufort, NC

Hi,

I grew up in NC, but now live in Colorado with my fiance. We want to get married in the Beaufort area and are seeking a wedding site on the water and a reception site (not in a hotel) in the Beaufort area in order to allow our guests to walk and enjoy the town. We'd love any tips on having a wedding in that area! 

We are also open to suggestions to other coastal NC suggestions and appreciate the input!

Love Beaufort! We vacation down there all the time, it is SO perfect. There's a restaurant down there that does weddings, http://www.beaufortgrocery.com/index.php/joomla-license/catering-info, but it's not on the water. I would maybe check with B&Bs in the area, or some of the historic houses.

There's also the Spouter Inn, amazing food and right smack on the water, that might work:

Also, I am pretty sure the Maritime Museum rents the boat workshop as a venue, not sure how to contact them though. http://www.ncmaritimemuseum.com/

I am no help on coastal NC areas, but I grew up in CO and lived there til I was 21.  What part of CO are you in?  I miss it!

Love Beaufort, it's such a beautiful, quaint place!

I know the museum (brand new or so) does weddings now.  I'd check into that, it looked really neat!  Near the beach, but indoors too!

Yeah I would also recommend the museum.

You could also look into doing it in one of the many public parks/beaches in the area if you want to do an outdoors wedding.
