I always mean to take my ring off when I put on lotion, or cook, or do dishes, but it never seems to happen.
I'm always half way through making hamburgers when I see the shiny peeping out from the meat and think "AH GAWD I DID IT AGAIN," run to the sink, wash hands, wash ring, and then put it on the counter. It's halfway through eating dinner when I find myself thinking "AAH GAWD WHERE DID THE SHINY GO," and then spend the next 20 minutes trying to figure out what the hell I did with it.
I keep mine on almost all the time, including sleeping and showering. I take it off in the morning when I put on my makeup because I use a type that I rub in my hands before putting on my face, and I put it right back on after I have my hands wiped off. I take it off if I put on lotion but again, it goes right back on.
I have encountered some of the problems someone mentioned about sleeping with it on because mine is a marquis cut and thus VERY pointy, but I got over it pretty quickly. If I really need to put my hands by my face I just turn the ring around so the stone is underneath and that solves the problem.
I have a warranty on the rings, and since I plan on wearing them for a very long time I sort of see the engagement period as a good time to get used to having a ring on that finger that I never take off.
