Mine is Alfred Angelo style 758. It's not at all what I wanted when I went in (I hate pick ups, wanted something really plain, and thought a ballgown would look terrible on me), but I fell in love. I wore it for an hour while my cousin tried on bridesmaid dresses and still didn't want to take it off! I ordered a size 24, but the one in the pictures is the sample and a couple of sizes too small, so I think it will look even better day of. They are going to make me a wrap to cover my arms like the one in the last picture. Also included a pic on the model.
We just got our pictures back from our August wedding, so I wanted to share a picture of my dress. It is Davids Bridal, Galina Style 9PK3218. I've included a couple of pictures from our dance, so you can see how the dress moves - - it was a great dress to dance in, super comfortable. My alternations person (not Davids) made the custom flower applique on the dress (probably hard to see in these pictures).
Whoops, might be easier if I attach the pics so they are bigger, sorry!
I keep seeing all the Davids Bridal gowns. I think its unfortunate that pretty much the only store I had to choose a plus size dress from was Davids, and personally they dont have the best customer service. I went to many different stortes trying on EVERYTHING I could. I couldnt fall in love with a dress I couldnt get into or was so misshappen because it didnt fit me at all... I finally found the dress I love at Bridal Event in Appleton WI. THANK YOU BRIDAL EVENT for even having a plus size section of sample gowns to try on. They were the exception for sure.
This is me in my dress when I found it. The dress isnt completly zipped in the back so the bust is a bit different than what it will look like. Its a Casablanca Bridal Gown style 2030. It is a "mermaid" but from how it looks on for me, it doesnt feel like one. I wanted something with straps and this has such beautifaul artdeco inspired beading. Its true, I got "the" feeling and fell in love with it.
I normally wear an 18w and am 5'7". I'm going to attach a bunch of photos of me trying on various gowns because your beautiful pictures all helped me feel good about the process. I will have to say that over all I was amazed at how good these dresses made me look. Of course there were some that were awful. These were all at David's Bridal. I ended up getting my dress at Bridal Warehouse, though.
There's a dress for you--not to worry. But it may not be the dream dress you have in your head. Keep yourself open and try on what the salespeople bring you.
