i know. i know i CAN wear real pants. but im pretty good with not wearing them. I will be too depressed to buy them. I know i shouldnt say that, but its true.
My jeggings are really denim, they are just like a leggin but fake denim looking they are from ny n co lol. To work everyday i either wear a skirt/dress or riding pants and boots with a sweater.

i am pretty much almost always wore skirts/dresses and tights and what not before i was larger- and never really wore jeans, i have always hated jeans. I am an apple shape so they were never really flattering on me. I was my smallest in college nadi owned one pair of jeans.

I do have some of those cargo pants from ON that i throw on here and there when i am running errands with a T and some chucks

I know! This woman is like that every day! In Boston we all went shopping together and I was looking at stuff in Lord and Taylor and she was all, "Too bad they don't have a Lane Bryant for big girls like us" Like the only stuff we can wear is from Lane Bryant, I love Lane Bryant but still! I ended up spending a fortune at Lord and Taylor to prove her wrong, lol.

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that Lane Bryant is the ONLY RETAILER ON THE PLANET that sells PS clothes.

Jeez, someone needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

EDIT: Has anyone seen the movie "Phat Girlz"? It's a really cute movie (I thought so) but one of the subplots is the main character (played by Monique) struggles to be a big woman and fashionable at the same time. This thread makes me think of that.

  • Hey ladies, I completely understand where you are coming from.  I am 26, 5-5 and wear a 22/24 (slowly in the process of losing, but work is crazy and have seemed to get off track).  dots has a lot of cute stuff, but does not offer online shopping yet; For lingerie and intimates, I love tootimid.com and racy.com; both usually have reasonable prices and shipping costs.  Sometimes I can find stuff at outlet stores like Burkes and Ross (just try it on there, yes they have amazing discounts but often they are sized wrong which is the whole reason for them being at the outlet store.)  Once and a while I can find some stuff at Wal-Mart or K-mart (they have both gotten better for professionial clothes not so much on casual or dresses).  I wish you all the best and hope that this helps.

  • this thread makes me feel like sewing is a lost art. for a simple hem, you don't even need a machine... just a needle, thread, pins, and iron.

    1. pin(or have someone else pin) where you need the hem to be at. just one pin where the new bottom should bee is plenty
    2. fold the bottom of your pants so they're straight, and the bottom fold is where the bottom of your pants will be. iron them so you have a nice crease.
    3. do a basic stitch all around, to secure the hem in place. doesn't need to be anything fancy. if someone needs help with this step, i can find a tutorial on stiches.
3.5. if it helps, you can do a little knot at the sides so everything stays in place while you sew.
    4. if you have a ton of room from your hem, you can cut off the difference. i usually don't, my hems aren't more than 2-3 inches.

if you have a sewing machine, it's even easier.

  • For people who are buying skirted bottom swimsuits- I will tell you this. I used to have one, and if you actually swim in it, as opposed to laying around in the sun tanning and whatnot, the extra fabric used for the skirt holds water and takes FOREVER to dry. I always had to wring mine out after getting out of the water and whenever I would sit down my ass would always be the last thing to dry. Just keep that in mind if you intend on actually swimming in your fashionably cute skirted swimsuit.

My biggest issue with my skirted bottom was that the skirt part would get all flowy in the water when I went swimming. It felt like having extra weight attached to me. This was especially difficult when swimming in the waves in Mexico!! Lots of movement in the water. I think at one point I just flipped it and tucked it into the waistband, haha.

  • I have absolutely no clue what size I am, because it varies so much from brand to brand.  Things are cut differently depending on the manufacturer, so I gave up trying to pin a number to my body.  It's frustrating as hell, but I have skinny friends with the same problem.  The reason why?  We're all curvy in different ways.  It's the curse of being a woman, but I bet your fiance wouldn't trade your curves for anything.

  • Check out www.sonsi.com they have a bunch of ideas that are fabulous and they create outfits for you or you can look at other people's outfit ideas. They also address this same topic, how we as PS women can't wear what we like and that the designers decide is acceptable for us to wear. As for me, I agree finding pants is a nightmare. I'm 5'9" and wear a size 16. I have "junk in my trunk" so everything tends to gap and the legs are usually short. However, I have recently found the BEST pants. They come in petite, average and tall. I got them on QVC, they are from Quackery Factory and they're called Dream Jeans. They are the best pants that I have ever bought! Happy shopping!
  • Dress Barn for Women have really cute clothes in plus sizes. Their jeans have bling on the back pockets and are less than $40. I bought a champagne and black dress there back in the summer and it was a dream to wear and everyone said I looked great in it. I thought so too! Im a new fan of Dress Barn now!
