Wedding Invitations & Paper

Wedding Website HELP

I created a site on the knot and I have everything ready to go.  I have hit a huge roadblock and I am wondering if anyone has any ideas.  First, in the RSVP section you have to enter an email address for every guest even if they are children.  I was wondering if anyone had a work around for this.  Secondly which is my biggest issue is I am getting a google map API error saying that it will not load the maps due to an error;
Google has disabled use of the Maps API for this application. The provided key is not a valid Google API Key, or it is not authorized for the Google Maps Javascript API v3 on this site. If you are the owner of this application, you can learn about obtaining a valid key here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/tutorial#Obtaining_Key

Does anyone have any ideas?  I am starting to think I should not have put all of this effort into the knot site and went with another one...Cry

Re: Wedding Website HELP

  • I think most of the wedding websites have major glitches, especially with the RSVP.  I think the general consensus around here is not to use the website for RSVPs and to send out proper RSVP cards with your invitations.

    I realize its a cost savings to have people RSVP online, but in addition to the technical problems... guests are more likely to drop a prepaid envelope in the mail than they are to remember to go log on to a website and RSVP.

    I did electronic RSVPs for my engagement party. 18 bothered to log in and rsvp.  41 showed up the the party.
  • did you ever solve your google maps api issue, we are running into the same problem and trying to find a solution
  • Hey - I just wanted to chime in and say that we've had our knot website up and running for a couple of weeks now. The map *was* working fine, but I just checked and it's giving the same error message that you described now. So I'm assuming it's a knot glitch that will get resolved soon...I hope...

    I'm not using the RSVP section, so don't have much advice for you there. Do you have to enter a *different* email address for each person? Like, could you use the parent's email address again for the child, for example?

  • We have the same problem with the maps!!!
    I'm stressed because we paid to register the domain name, and now a few months before the wedding, the guests can't see the maps!!! :0

    We have the same problem, but with our website, that Google map message shows up on every page that has an address. I've emailed customer support 3 times, with no response so far. I've unclicked the options to link the addresses to the map and have hidden the Map of Events page, but the message still appears.  It's too bad - our website looked so nice, and now it is just annoying to use. I hope The Knot fixes this soon, otherwise we will have to come up with a workaround. We also paid for the custom domain name, and our invitations just went out directing our guests to visit the site. Quite an embarrassment.
  • Everytime i press on the link to create my page i get an error message. ive been trying for weeks and i emailed for help but have not gotten anything back. :(
