parents gifts

What are some ideas for our parents gifts? What should we budget? My parents have put a substanial amount of money into this wedding in comparison to my future in laws. Do we give them a larger gift?

  • I would like to see some answers here too.

I know you're supposed to shop like it's their birthday, but both sets of our parents are really hard to buy for.  I stopped giving my dad gifts years ago because there's just nothing to buy him.

  • I'll admit I've never really understood the point of parents gifts. I'm just not doing them. Problem solved. I know a popular idea is to give them a photobook of the wedding. Our wedding is in October so I plan to include photobooks with their xmas gifts.

  • I am personally more sentimental, but I have a horrible relationship with my dad and didnt plan on getting him anything because half the time I dont even know if he is still coming (he lives in FL). My parents put a lot of money into this wedding so I wanted to get them something nice as a way of saying thank you.... and i have absolutely no idea what to get FH's parents.

  • If you the same thing across multiple boards, make sure you put XP in the title next time.

I'm facing the same dilemma right now with gifts for my parents.  I'm going to buy as if I was getting/making something for Mothers or Father's Day, but it's still really hard.  I'm sorry I don't have much to add, but I hear 'ya!

  • This was really hard for us to figure out. We wanted to get them something sentimental as well as something they could use. We searched Etsy for a while for some ideas and we loved the frames that were on there. We didn't like any of the quotes really so we came up with our own and our parents loved it.

We wanted to get something else, and decided to also get each set a $200 gift card to a really nice steak house (literally the day of the rehearsal is when they were purchased!)

Get them something you can afford. Oh, we also wrote heartfelt thank you's to them as well. They loved that the most!

  • We got the mom's Coach bags.  I was able to find ones I thought they'd love in their favorite colors.  It's going to be hard to wait 6 months to give them their gifts!!
We have no idea what to get FIs dad yet.

My SIL made a handkerchief for her mom with the extra fabric from her dress. She cried when she opened it!

  • Honestly I never really hard of parents gift before here, but we wanted to get them something as a thank you. I ended up getting all 4 of them divorced twice a nice picture frame to match their home, with an e pic in it. Then for Christmas I made them all photo albums on shutterfly. They were all the same, with all of the day's events, except for 2 pages with family pics that I changed for each one. They all loved them.
