Antigua vs. St. Lucia

Getting married October 2014, Antigua seems to have slightly better weather at that time but St. Lucia we have heard great things. Looking at Sandals Resorts since they tend to offer a lot of online discounts sometimes up to 70% off. Any thoughts with any of these resorts?

Re: Antigua vs. St. Lucia

  • We've been to Sandals Grande St. Lucian 2xs (June '08 for or HM and March '12) and Sandals Antigua 1x ( March '11).
I have reviews and pics in the link above my siggy pic if you would like to check them out.
  • My experience with both islands are limited to 6ish hour cruise stops so take my advice for what it is.

If you plan on leaving the resort for excursions you will probably have more options on St. Lucia but generally speaking the beaches are better on Antigua.

  • We are going to Antigua for our honeymoon. The pricing was comparable and the beach looks a thousand times prettier where we are staying than on st Lucia.

  • We're headed to St. Lucia
We chose it because we are super outdoorsy and, while H wants to drink fruity drinks on the beach and be lazy, I want to zip line, hike, paddleboard, practice yoga, etc.
It was a clear winner over all the areas we looked at.

I have never been to Antigua, but we were in Grand Cayman earlier this year and, while it some beautiful beaches, we saw everything within a couple days. That's how we knew we needed something more than just beach for 10 days at an all inclusive.

I recommend zip lining with Treetop Adventures.  They were a great group and if you book online you can save $10 pp (at least they offered it when I booked last year).

  • My opinion on this is totally scewed but we went island hopping on a cruise ship on our HM. St. Lucia was the most over rated place I've ever been to.

  • Thanks @AprilH81 ! Will do!

@HobokenBridge2012 that's how we felt about Grand Cayman. That place got old really fast.
