I got a text message this morning, and my notification ringtone is R2D2. My CW (he's 20) years old asked me if it was from Willy Wonka. I wanted to cry. I don't think I want to live on this planet anymore lol.

And a little while back, my friend's daughter picked up a Disney movie on VHS and asked her mom to read it to her. She thought it was a book.

These things make me feel old, and I'm only 27. Wtf.

Care to share your makes-me-feel-old stories?

Haha edie, I'm only 27 for another month (exactly).

I was at the grocery store a few years ago picking up some stuff to bake pies for Easter, and the girl in front of me 1) Commented on the rhubarb I was buying by saying "Hey, I didn't know they made red celery", and 2) Also didn't know how to write a check. Um, hello, if you don't know how to write a check, then maybe you shouldn't be allowed to write them. But, that's the biiitch in me talking.

My first internet was that dial up one. I can still "hear" all of the funny noises it made when connecting...

It makes me feel old when three and four year olds can figure out phones/tablets/etc. WAY faster than I can.

I graduated in '98.

About a year ago (before the movie came out) I said something to a co-worker about how I'd just bought the first season of 21 Jump Street on DVD. She had no idea what I was talking about.

Yeah that made me feel old too lol - graduated in 1994. Working at a college and meeting wtih college students who were born the year I graduated high school...having my oldest niece and nephew turn 28 this year. Ugh...SO old lol

J has really been into Power Rangers lately. T and I tried to ask her questions about it referencing the original ones. She told us we must not have ever seen it because that's not how it goes and those people don't exist. Whatever kid.

Oh and flourescent colors coming back as a trend is depressing me. My sweet 1991 LA gears in bright pink and green are calling and they want me back.

A lot of my students have no idea what some of the colloquialisms I use mean--"Why buy the cow when the milk is free" was absolutely lost on them and even after explaining it, a handful still didn't get it.

This is going to sound ridiculous becuase I'm younger than most of you....

I was talking to my Dad about how I'm turning 24 the day before we leave for our honeymoon and I said it made me sad that I'm going to be in my mid-twenties. Irrational, party of me.

They play reruns of Boy Meets World every Saturday on MTV (I think that's the channel) and I love watching them, but I don't remember it being that cheese-tacular. And I used to have the hugest crush on Will Friedel (Eric Matthews) when I was younger, but he's one of the most annoying characters on that show. Early on he wasn't so bad, he was actually pretty funny, but once he got into college, his weird over-the-top eyebrow-acting got out of hand and makes it hard to watch.

This! I graduated in 98 also. My niece asked me what a pager/beeper was. Back in the day, paging your boyfriend 3704558 is what we did, not texting.

We had to explain to our baby audit staff what 'checks in transit' are (there's an account on our general ledger for this). We finally realized that they didn't understand the term because they had never written a check and had no idea there was time in between writing the check and having it clear the bank.

My daughter asked me 'what's that' when she saw someone using a rotary phone on an old tv show. I don't think she's ever seen one in person. She also cannot understand my prehistoric no-internet-no-computer-no-cellphone childhood. 'OMG, Mom - what did you DO?'

I'm only 3 months older than my H, and he always makes fun of me for being closer to 30 than I am to 20. I'm like, dude, so are you! And he'll say, yeah but not as close as you are. Jerkface.

And for some reason, 24 seems like early-twenties to me.

This list on things 90s kids will have to explain to their children.

I'll be 27 in October and I'm not happy about it. First, because odd numbers always sound worse. Second, because I ahven't come close to accomplishing the things I had planned by now.

If you turned it upside down (the pager) it said a-hole...that was our clever way of sending messages. I didn't have a cell phone until I was 18 and it was an Erickson with a huge 3lb battery on the back.

Mehg, I do that to H since he's a year older than me. Right now we're 29 and 31, so he feels extra old.

We watch Boy Meets World and cringe at the sappiness. Most of the time I want to nutpunch every single character.

Gotcha. That makes sense. We did that on calculators but I wasn't getting it seeing the numbers the correct way.
