Before I switched my major to nursing, I majored in East Asian studies. Because of this, I know an absurd about of information about North Korea, so I get asked questions all. the. time. because of all of the political drama around NK. I also studied the Japanese language during my time as an EAS major -- I've been told that my accent is flawless and my writing is beautiful, but I've forgotten a large amount of my Japanese. I hope to study it again in the near future.

My best friend is transgendered, so I'm increasingly active in the LGBT community in Nashville. I'm deeply insulted whenever people say harsh and negative things about transgendered people, gay marriage, gay rights, et cetera. I also can't understand why people have a negative opinion toward gay marriage. It just makes no sense at all.

I think marijuana should be legalized because my patients need it.

ETA: I'm also deathly afraid of cotton balls and mayonnaise.

I haven't missed a day and my mom and I see how each other did through email since we live so far apart. Super motivated to stick with it! (it's called The Ultimate Yogi for anyone who is interested.

I LOVE food...thus all the yoga. haha. My faves are mashed potatoes, ice cream, and caprese salad. mmmm

I've recently gotten into Green Monster smoothies...and I think i'm freaking out my coworkers. The smoothie is green because it has spinach in it, but I swear it just tastes like peanut butter & bananas. YUM!

I have the cutest dog ever...and that is not up for debate. (JK!)

Yes, and I agree great book. Also the movie 'Conviction' is about Kenny Waters who was wrongfully accused and unfortunately died shortly after he was released from prison. It makes me so sick to think of situations like his.

I also strongly oppose the death penalty. It actually costs the government more in mandatory appeals and associated legal fees to execute someone than it does to keep them in prison for life.

Also agree the marijuana should be legalized. The amount of money this country has thrown away on the "war against drugs" makes me sick.

I think a lot of us here are pretty liberal, especially on social issues.

Marijuana has done a ton of good for my dad too. He has chronic neck pain, so a wee bit of ganja on occasion does him a lot of good. I'd definitely smoke again if I didn't have the risk of a random drug test.

  • Hmmm. Something y'all don't know about me....

Aside from my love of baking and horses and my pupdog, I'm also pretty artistic. I took a bunch of painting, drawing, and ceramics classes in college. I really should sketch more often because I enjoy it so much.

My dream is to run a bakery someplace outside of the city (too competitive here). I don't know if it will ever happen, but when I imagine the ideal career for me, that's it. I almost enrolled in a Baking and Pastry program at culinary school about 2 years ago, but it's just too expensive for me at this point in life.

For a few months before meeting BF, I was legitimately depressed. I was feeling pretty hopeless about my love life and really, really thought that I would never meet someone special. I was young at the time (23 I think?) but hadn't ever even been in a real relationship, and I truly thought something was wrong with me and I never would be. Then all of a sudden I was asked out by someone named Mike, went out with him on a Friday night, and then met my now-BF Mike the next day. Mike #1 didn't stand a chance, and the rest is history.

I have two younger sisters who I love like crazy. I'm a lot closer to the younger one (sophomore in college), but my relationship with the middle (24) one has been getting stronger lately and I've very happy about that.

I love love love all you NEY-ers, and really want to meet some of you one day soon, but I've never told BF about this board!

This is really important: how can you have patients if you're afraid of cotton balls?  I personally am terrified of alcohol swabs because duh the needle comes next.  And cotton ball in the crook of your arm cause you just gave blood?  get the heck away from me, I can't deal with it (yet I am an advocate of donating IF you can do it.  I just can't)

In other news, I breathe fire out of my eyeballs when my students (or others) are being negative about gay marriage or relationships.  I GET that we're in the Bible belt, but I'm here to make a difference, dangit.  And I could care less who you love, I'm just glad you're in love.

    Things about me:
    1.  I don't like flowers (or the cost of them) so I'm tagging every possible "how to make your own flowers" post on pinterest.
    2.  I watch Criminal Minds marathons all day when I'm not working.  If I am working, I obviously don't :)
    3.  I made Jap chae for dinner last night and it is delicious.  I also made dirt cake for dessert, so hopefully my run today made up for that :)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

  • I wanted to play the flute in band in middle school but I wasn't allowed because it was too expensive. I did choir instead and I did it every year until my junior year of college. I miss singing. (not exactly the cool facts Sak was looking for, but w/e).

I absolutely despised by step father for the entire 15 years that my mom was married to him. He's a redneck, verbally abusive, bigoted, ignorant, mostly illiterate alcoholic. My mom finally divorced him about 5 years ago and I still hate his guts. He was at my little half-brother's wedding over Christmas and being near him made me ill.

I haven't been drinking very much since I started p90x. It has been weird, but I feel like I can't waste calories that I need to nourish my body after a tough workout on booze. I am, however, going to drink myself stupid for St. Patty's.

I have to touch them on a regular basis, but I handle them like they're about to explode. The thing I can't handle is the noise they make. Whenever I have a pill bottle that has cotton in it, Tyler has to take the cotton out for me because the sound makes me gag. At my first weekend at Wittenberg, I actually wandered the hallways to find someone in her dorm room so I could get her to remove cotton from a bottle of Benadryl that I'd bought.

  • I will play!

I hate anything and everything pork, so yes that means I do not eat bacon.

I cannot stand the sound of people chewing, biting their nails, breathing or snoring. Becaese of the last part, when FI has to be to work super early in the morning and goes to bed at 7:30 at night, I sleep on the couch. Due to his loud breathing/snoring I lay there wide awake if I go to bed after him.

I was a pole vaulter in high school until I had to have knee surgery from a soccer injury and then shortly after that got in a car accident and messed up my back.
