  • I want a bowl of Cheerios but they always make my mouth hurt.  I'm trying to do a cost/benefit analysis here.

[QUOTE]We just finished dinner...the sides were a salad made from the lettuce and radshes that I grew in my own garden. I feel so proud! Maybe I don't have a black thumb anymore!!! Next week the corn should be ready to harvest!!!!  My green beans are flowering again, so we will have more of those soon.

lol where the hell do you live that this is happening?!
  • I have a hard time eating ramen. I think I ate too much of it in college. H likes to mix eggs in with his ramen and the taste is gag-worthy. But I'm not a big egg fan anyway (unless it's deviled, of course).
  • OH. While Comcast (cable- internet) was out today setting up our internet, we found out that DirecTV basically stole their grounded line. It's pretty fucking obviously, because it has a big Comcast logo on it.  So, in order for the internet ot get set up, he had to 'steal' it back. Now we have a satellite dish that's not grounded, which is illegal.  And especially awesome, because we have massive storms coming through all night. I sweartogod if it blows out our tv....

H is PISSED and is calling DirecTV tomorrow to make them come back out and wire it properly.  Comcast dude gave us his name and his supervisors to back us up if needed.  It's actually against city code and everything.

    Eww that sounds nasty!

I think ramen is the american version of mr noodle here? Ive never liked actually cooking it. Id much rather crunch it all up, put the seasoning on and eat it raw like a snack.

Hi! I'm looking for free books to download on my kindle for the long ass car trip to IL tomorrow. I am in love with my kindle.  I wasn't entirely sure that I would be able to get over not having an actual book, but I adjusted to it really fast.  I'm glad I got the Touch instead of the Fire, I love the e-ink.

Same. I made a huge ass outta myself for about a year going on and on about how I would never get a kindle because they were the devil. I got one for Christmas and I love it lol
  • Steph- Do you have comcast internet and then DirectTV tv? Right now we have comcast everything but I think I'm going to surprise H when he is deployed and get rid of our cable and get Directv. The 2 year deal seems pretty awesome.

  • I want a Kindle so badly!  I use the Kindle app on my iPhone, but it's not the same.  I just want to get through paying off the whole wedding before something like that.

  • Sesh, H does that too, with that hot asian sauce. No water though at least. Just the noodles.
  • Yeah you cook the ramen like normal, and when it's done/simmering you toss in an egg and the hot broth "cooks" the egg. It's not raw, but just...eggy. I am not a fan.

I'm stil not ready to get off my podium. I came close with the work contest, and had the Disnet tickets not have been the other option, I probably would have fallen off. Luckily Disney saved me and now I can still be self-righteous.

My mom and I were debating e-readers last weekkend and I actually used the "yoy just don't understand" line on her when we were talking about how it affects writers and publishers. She got so irrirated, ha.

Sesh, I even like eggs and the thought of that makes me want to gag.  And damn you for mentioning deviled eggs.  Those things are my biggest weakness in life.

  • I think someone that used to live in our frat house did that with the ramen and the egg. She called it egg drop soup.
  • This is UO, but deviled eggs make me gag.

I think what I like most about e-readers is that theyre another "gadget" people want to have, which inadvertantly might get more people reading. A big ol paper book is "lame", but something you download onto your kindle/nook/whatever is "cool". If it gets more people reading, then whatever. I think its sad how few people read.
  • Hike- we had Comcast everything. Then switched to DirecTV and Quest (Century Link) for internet. But they only go to 1.5 and we're spoiled. We tried for 6 months, but I just gave up and went back to Comcast for internet.

DirecTV is awesome for the actual TV part. We pay $42/mo total after taxes and stuff. I think it goes up to $50 after the first year. But the super slow internet sucked, because we couldn't use any of the DirecTV 'on demand' stuff. Their version of "On Demand' meant "wait for it to download and then watch it."  So just make sure you understand what they're selling. ;) Plus the contract kind of sucks- $20/mo cancelation fee. So it starts off at almost $500 for early termination on a 2 year plan.  It also cost us almost $150 to install, because they had to do it on the ground instead of on the roof.

ETA: OH! Super sketchy story. The guy wouldn't let us write a check because "I owe Wells Fargo money so I can't try and cash a check from someone who uses Wells Fargo." WTF dude. Not my problem. so we refused to pay him after the work was done until he would take our check. (Originally we were told they would take our CC/Debit card, but they woulnd't.)  sketchville independent contractors.

<div>Haha, I pretty much did the same thing.  I also said the same thing about Macs before, then somehow I caved and got a MacBook.  I don't think I can go back to a PC again now.  I need to learn to just go ahead and try new thing things instead of bitching for a year, then finally caving. It seems to be a pattern in my life. </div>

  • Ok, I just caught up. I hate Ramen, for the record so the idea of an egg in it makes it more gross.

I've been outside playing with the puppy while H finishes work on the deck. He usually smokes his cigar out there. Now I'm counting down the hour before bedtime.I so want the weekend to be here already.

And for my BP, my hairdresser took me to dinner on a Sunday, followed by 2 dive bars where I had one beer and she brought me home. A week is ridiculous to ask of anyone.

I think we will keep our Comcast Internet because it isn't bad and then directv has a promotion for $40 a month the first year for the middle package and then it goes up a little more for the second year. I just really want to get him the NFL package and it's free with signing up.
