  • For some reason whenever I see DH, I think "Designated Husband" even though I know the meaning.

I think Desperate Housewives when I see DH. Because I text my BFF during that show, and that's how we abbreviate.

But yeah, I don't call Alex my "dear husband" unless he's done something stupid and I'm about to call him on it.

LDY I agree with you 100%. The D weirds me out sometimes.

Undies - I just got rid of a bunch and still have a bunch, but now want to buy some of the ones that LDY posted. Where do you buy them from?

B-pics: I think I might get some for Lucas once I reach my goal weight (46lbs to go). I think it'll make me feel really good as well about all that I've accomplished.

I have not see how to train your dragon, but it's now on my list.

[QUOTE]Musical- you said you're trying to cut down on your sugar. I suggest having a lot of fresh fruit around (the natural sugar is great!) and non-fat greek yogurt. I add A bit of strawberry jam into my plain Greek yogurt. Those are my substitutes for sweets, anyways. Good luck :)

Thanks, :) I just got a bunch of frozen fruit to make smoothies w/ ice to try to substitute my sugars. :) I looove fruit, so that helps. I think my chocolate addiction is going to be toughest to beat.

[QUOTE]I confess that H and I netflixed How to Train Your Dragon, and we had no children watching it with us. We just wanted to see it. It's a very cute movie, LDY.

  • I'm late to the confessions thread, but I have one.  I lurk the special  needs board on TB all the time, because sometimes I really need to talk to someone else with an ADHD child.  Then I go over there, and they're talking about ASD and seizures and all sorts of things that just make my issues seem like nothing.  I have never posted over there because I'm afraid they'll be like "YOU DON'T BELONG HERE!"  I honestly don't know where I belong.  Maybe it isn't there.  I certainly don't consider Johnny to be special needs.  But there's nothing else that comes close in those boards.  So I just lurk and hope one day I'll see an ADHD thread and I can talk to that one person.
  • My confession is that I know more than I should know about pro wrestling. Not so much today's crop, but say 10 years ago. *face of shame*

We're a big helmet family. John's had 2 motorcycle crashes - once a lady pulled into him, and broke his foot (he didn't fall off, so kind of irrelevant). The other, coming home from a Pink Floyd concert, a racooon ran into the spokes (like trying to go through) of his front tire, and flipped him. He hit the pavement, slid, got road rash (where his ballistics jacket slid up) hit his head, and ruined the bike. Insurance covered the bike and the helmet.
I've had an accident where the helmet prevented serious brain injury; we both wear them on the bicycles (and I've fallen a lot), and one of the people we ride with fell so badly forwards that even with his helmet, he's now listed in the state's brain injury list.
Safety Conscious Family? Right Here. Helmet, gloves, boots, pants, padding, jackets, body armor (dirt bike), you name it.

  • I always read the D as darling and not dear.

DH is going to be running to the store to get stuff to make french toast. I'm starving and it's the only thing that sounds good.

  • J and I got into a mild argument once about enforcing helmets on our future children. He agrees they are a good idea but said they should be able to choose for themselves once they are teenagers. I understand what he means but I also think as long as I'm legally able to enforce rules on them you better believe I'm making them keep that helmet on.

  • my husband always wore a helmet by choice.  riding bikes, in the park at the ski hill, etc.  he didn't care about being too cool.

  • Mandy, that was me too, also with jackets/winter coats. For some reason in middle/high school, it was "cool" to stand at the bus stop without a winter coat. Like, because it somehow made you "better" than the winter or something? I don't know. I was like "You guys all look like idiots". It's freaking -35 windchill, and we had to stand on a corner for 5-15min? I'd like to keep my limbs.

I get mine at Belk in the clearance section, but they have them non-clearance too obviously lol. I've seen them at pretty much any department store. They are epic comfortable. I looooooooove them.

I'm totally not kidding when I said earlier I want to just go buy a million pairs and send them to everyone lol.

We really liked that movie!!  (and we just rented it without any kids).

Is it weird that I now project my dog onto every animal that I see?  And I always want to protect them?

    Mine too.

He's actually more safety-conscious than I am. Last night we had a debate on whether or not our kids will ever be allowed to have/ride 4-wheelers. I grew up with them; he wasn't allowed. He thinks they're too dangerous. I remember all the fun I had as a kid.
  • I wish this Belk store was in MN. I had never heard of it until LDY talked about it here.
    image
  • I agree with LDY that if I do say Dear or Darling Fiance I'm totally being sarcastic. Actually I still have a hard time saying fiance, mostly because I think of the Seinfeld episode of "Have you seen my fiance,  I lost my fiance"

Fact: My best friend made me a beer coozie that has that written on it lol.

  • It's literally just a department store. Nothing special. They tout it as "Modern. Southern. Style." Whatever. I think it used to be a store called McRae's or something here in MS. I can't remember what it used to be in FL...it's just been around for a while now.

That's funny because I think J and I are pretty safety conscious, but in different ways. He is one of the most safety-conscious people with weapons that I know. He was SUPER strict with my younger brothers when he taught them to hunt this year. But then he'll do stuff with his car that makes me all nervous.

  • WAY better than Marshalls. Much more similar to Dillards. Probably in between Dillards and JC Penney
  • I remember when i was a kid and it was Belk Lindsay's and I thought it was awesome cause THAT'S MY NAME!  (even though they spelled it wrong)

  • Don't know what Dillards is, but I do know JC Penney.

I can't remember when it was, but at some point I remember someone on here talking about Express as a bargain store for nice clothes. Then I felt all sad because Express is my favorite store but I barely can afford to buy more than one or two thing at a time there.

They have Belk in Charleston. I used to shop there. No Belk's here in VA though (at least not where I'm at) I'll have to check other department stores and see if they have them. I did get some nice compfy boy short undies from Lane Bryant recently. I luff them.

  • !?!?! You don't know Dillards!? Omg. I'm so sad. I love Dillards. Well, Belk is way better than the JCPenneys I've been to around here. Its so hard to explain! At the mall...what are you anchor stores? I guess you could say Belk is like Macys?
  • I still wear footie pjs!

  • I wast just in Belk yesterday.   A plaza near me has TJ maxx, Belk, Jcpenney, and a Best Buy. Awesome.
