Oh hai morning

Re: Oh hai morning

  • WHy do you keep calling it FI's apartment? It's your apartment too! You guys picked that to live in together, he just moved there a month early.

Don't let the experience turn you into a rebel. I hear freedom can make you do things like eat ice cream for dinner and stay up until 10:30 watching dvr'd soaps. Oh the horror.
  • Morning! Likely a P&R, but anywho...

    Congrats, Loopy! Cute blueberry :-)

Midge -- I lived at home until I was about 25 I think. It took me a little longer than it should have to move out after college, so I understand where you're at. I did live in dorms and apts in college though, so I at least had that experience. I remember what it was like at home, the whole "my house, my rules" stuff from the parents. You will really love living on your own and I think the only thing I occasionally miss about living at home is my mother's cooking. Which I can just have any time I go to see her!

Loopy how exciting! I've been hoping so hard for you. :)

Oh Midge, you will not miss living with your parents. You'll love being on your own.
  • All right. I gotta leave for work. I'm kind of liking the half days since I start feeling like 'ish around lunch time. :)
  • Yes, LDY he has lived away from home for quite some time. He and his brother shared an apartment in college but he's lived completely on his own for two years now.

Stacks, I call it his apartment because when I've called it our apartment, people IRL jump to the conclusion that we live together already which I don't feel like dealing with from most people in my daily life. I can't wait to be such a huge rebel! ;)

Meegles, my parents don't actually use that line but it's implied hardcore.
I agree with everyone else Midge, you're not going to miss being at home at all. Except for maybe when your sick and there's no one to make you chicken noodle soup. (Assuming your FI would be at work or something) :) I didn't move out when I should have because I felt bad and wanted to help my mom with bills. In hindsight it was incredibly stupid because it screwed me over in the long run and not her, but whatever, nothing can be done about it now. My mom treated me like I was a kid too, even though I was paying a significant amount of money. So the first day I got to clean my apt. without dusting around knicknacks I hated or using the dishwasher instead of hand washing or even just cleaning on my own schedule and not when she wanted was incredible.

Oh, yeah. I totally miss this. And H is useless in the kitchen, so I'm screwed on this for life.
Anna, they didn't give me jack shiit after I got married. It's not any different to fill out except I have to include H's income. They seem to think we're rolling in the dough now. I'm hoping I get a little more once I quit my job.

Yeah, I'm not expecting any money at all. I've never gotten any even when I was in high school and two out of three parental figures were unemployed. They said my mom could just sell out house and use that to pay for my college

  • That's crazy, Midge. Well, I'm sure you'll enjoy finally getting to call his place your place. Have you spent the night there or anything? Do you have a drawer? I know you don't live there yet and you're not making whoopie or anything, Apparently I'm nosy.
  • Yeah because that makes total sense. I'm glad I don't have to give them my mom's income. They probably wouldn't even let me take out the govt loans.
Birdie - pee smell?
    Posted by Loopyseven
Yeah. The house reeked of dog pee before I moved in. We replaced the carpets and repainted a bunch of walls and that really helped, but the large bathroom still smells a bit and I think it's because I haven't torn down the wallpaper yet.

If you can't get the smell to go away you might want to paint Killz in the bathroom. That should help. Pee smell is the worst, I'm sorry Birdie.

  • Ewww, pee smell is the worst. My old roomate had a cat who peed on stuff, and then I moved in and didn't realize the extent of the pee smell until I lived there. It was awful. Febreeze actually went a long way! Once the wallpaper is gone, you should be good. Is it a huge reno job?

Midge - I lived on my own from 19 - 25. I moved home at 25 because I got a job where my parents live and where I grew up and wanted to save some money. It wasn't so bad since I had already left and I got to do my own thing, but I couldn't imagine living there straight through. How have you not left yet? I'd go batty. I totally did the "freedom!" craziness, but I was also 19 and in college.

Now, living with a boy was a big transition for me. I hate sharing my bed.

  • I've started moving my stuff over there already, like things I don't need at my current house. (FI and I have started calling that my pit stop and the apartment our home) A week before the wedding, I want it to look like I'm visiting my parent's house.

I've never spent the night because my parents think I'm 12, remember? ;) Seriously though, even when I've spent the night at his parents house, my mom asks if his parents are going to be there. *headdesk*

The more I talk about it, the more I want out. Thanks for letting me vent. I didn't mean to turn the morning thread into all about me.

Yeah we had to do this in the Kentucky house. I'm also throwing all old rugs and towels away. The rugs really sucked up the smell. It's at least to the point now where i can spray some air freshener while I do my hair and it doesn't bother me too much.
  • Habs, I hate sharing a bed too. I wind up in the guest room more often than not.

  • I've never minded sharing my bed (ha that makes me sounds like a whore). I do enjoy the rare night when it's just me and the dogs, though.

  • No Habs, it shouldn't be too bad. Last weekend we did a bunch of painting and ripped down the wallpaper in two rooms. Taking the wallpaper out really did help in them, so I'm hoping it helps in the bathroom. I just hurt my back moving a couple weeks ago, so I haven't felt like starting on it the past few nights.

I'm sleeping on my grandpa's old bed and it kind of smelled at first. I febreezed the shiz out of it and it really helped. I need to febreeze more of the box springs though. I'll be glad when H moves back with all of our stuff.
  • Rach, my cats love sleeping behind my knees too. It is so cute but I feel bad disturbing them. I should get over it though, I need the sleep more than they do.

  • Habs, I just never really had anyone to move out with besides FI. My "FREEDOM" thing was breaking my curfew and coming home whenever I wanted right out of high school. Guess that was enough rebellion to tide me over. It's honestly gotten a lot worse since we've been engaged. Guess they realize they're really "losing" me.
  • Morning. I dropped my breakfast on my freshly-washed robe, and now I have to rewash it.

My cat hears the opening notes of my alarm (I use my phone) and immediately runs to my pillow to harass me. I feed him, and he is convinced breakfast should be served less than thirty seconds after my alarm goes off.
  • I'm thinking, Ranch, but so far my ideas all allow someone to vote for themselves.
  • Skittles sleeps on my pillow. But I sleep with two, so she sleeps on the back one. I like having her up there and we don't disturb each other. Sometimes when she wakes up in the morning she crawls under the covers and cuddles in my belly area. I missed having pets in my bed. I love having her around.

Birdie - That doesn't sound too too bad. Hopefully your back heals up soon!

  • Midge you have a brother right? How are they with him and what sort of life does he live.
  • I seriously hate sleeping on my own. Except for the part where I stretch out and take up the whooooole bed. That's nice.
LDY - would they need to create an account to vote in that? Could they vote for themselves?
    Posted by rachers1017
No account needed, but I think you should just play up the honor system on it.
  • Baxter likes to curl up right next to my feet and sleep. I <3 it. :) I'm totally ready to share my bed with FH. Take that in all the ways you wish.
  • Habs, Dooley also sleeps on my pillow, but he usually leaves in the early morning to sit in the window. He comes back when he thinks I'm going to feed him.
  • Rach when I did employee of the month I met with my lead, and we discussed who should get it. I based it off attendance, cusotmer comments, if they completed their skills for the month and if they were going above and beyond their job.

I think it gets murky when other people vote since they might not vote for the most deserving person. It usually ends up that they vote for the most popular person or themselves.
