SA Wednesday

I'm voting tomorrow!
I met with our firm's financial advisor yesterday and it went GREAT. I just wish H was with me. I know H will do with our money basically whatever I say, but I still want his opinion and want him to feel like he has ownership over stuff and that I'm not going to steamroll him.

I also changed my name on two accounts yesterdsay by actually going into banks (annoying).

I would say I'm MAYBE halfway done changing everything. PAIN.

Re: SA Wednesday

  • Today I will use our wok for the first time. My dad used to have one when I was little so I'm super excited to have my own now!

Carrie- Completely understand you wanting to include H. Can you set up another meeting? If not, just give him all the facts and ask his input. Maybe that will work?

Ohhhh the wonderful name changes. Absolute pain.
  • Overheard in the hallway:
Student 1: "How long is the Benchmark?"
Student 2: "30 questions. It's a lot of reading, though."
Student 1: "MAAAANNN. YOU KNOW I HATE READING."

Sigh. I wish I had the time to just drop a day every week and make them read.
    Anniversary

I don't think he really cares, ha! He trusts me completely but I'm like, dude, I could use some accountability here, or you're going to see a whole lot of Sephora and Apricot Lane on next month's bank statement....
haha not really, ok but maybe....

I just hear a lot about couples getting in trouble because one person controls the finances and I want him to know that he CAN be involved if he wants.

What are you going to be making in the wok??? We have one, but we NEVER use it.

There's another one of these that gives you more options that yes/no also: http://www.isidewith.com/

But I'm glad to see someone encouraging thinking about who to vote for and why, instead of just saying "vote!vote!vote!" Don't get me wrong, I wish a lot more people would vote, and I don't have a problem with encouraging voting, it just never seems like people give any actual INFORMATION about it.

I COMPLETELY feel you on this one. I mean, I do want to be the money manager because I'm a control freak when it comes to that, but a little input/feedback would be nice. Seriously...I applied to consolidate H's student loans last week and he couldn't have cared less about which payment plan we picked. I was all, "This one's good right, huh, hm?" and all I got in response was "Sure babe, yeah, whatever you think." I literally think the only helpful information that he gave me was his SS and FAFSA PIN, haha. Oooh well...at least we're trying to include them, right?

Re: voting, I'm pretty excited because I was still registered in Brazos County from college and decided to leave it that way to avoid the name change/confusion at the last minute. Now, while I will admit that it's a little sad that I haven't voted in any local elections in the last 4 years...I'm pretty stoked about being able to do a mail-in ballot. Lazy, ftw. :)

Ugh, THIS. So much this. I have a hard enough time getting the SS out of FI, and I'm lucky he doesn't have student loans because that would be more information. Seriously, if I was gone, he would not be able to pay any bills. And he just can't call companies either, he hates talking on the phone. I love him, and we both have our strengths in the relationship, but taking care of that kind of stuff is not his.

It's interesting-I took the one you posted, and while I'm pretty solidly aligned with the same major candidate (and solidly almost 100% against the other), the third party matches changed a lot for me between the 2 tests.

I love our wok! We use it pretty frequently. We use it when we're making beef & broccoli, chicken & rice, sloppy joes, etc.

So I guess after reading all these posts related to spouses involvement in financial planning, I'll count my blessings that we've got this pretty wired in terms of our involvement. I was single for so long, so I was so used to paying and being responsible for everything. When I met DH, he is the male version of Carrie, and he took the lead with all the finances. I must say, I was hesitant at first given my control-freak nature, but knew he's the best one for the job. That said, these are conversations we routinely have, together, so I'll count my blessings! ;-)

On another note, our vet is having a Halloween thing on their FB page where you submit pictures of your pet dressed up. I didn't have time or the brain power to come up with something creative, so I bought this lovely Gnome costume at Petsmart for $4!!

Remington probably isn't happy with me...

  • That face Remington is giving you!! I dressed my boxer up as a pimp one year lol it made for a funny photo
