Hi every1. my mate & I are thinking about eloping rather than have to deal with family, drama, mayhem & over budgeting. Just wondering if your thinking about eloping, or have eloped & what your thoughts & ideas are on such topics? Thanks

PS,I'll try to be a little more outgoing here. I'm sorry if i offended anyone. I'm new here & just jumped in. I've been in a relationship for over 2 years now & we're living in a condo in Edmonton, AB. My partner and I are common law now. Hoping this helps. Any questions, I'll try to answer.

PPS, would anyone be able to help me with the acrynyms? I'm good with most but some are lost on me hahah!!

There are times I really wish BF wanted to elope. Between my family and his friends I am dreading wedding planning. That said I've always wanted the traditional wedding and so does BF so we aren't going to elope.

I think its fantastic if it's what you really want but make sure you won't have any regrets before you do it.

This. Especially the part about not regretting it. I honestly would like to elope but it is SUPER important to FI to have his mom and grandmother there. And I want to make sure that my girls are there. That being said, we're compromising and having a total of like 40 people max for our wedding.

I also agree with yaga that wedding planning is as difficult or easy as you make it. What does your FI want?

Wow, Cshiano. You should pay more attention to where you are.

OP - not everyone on here is NEY. There are many engaged, married, and even single ladies here. We all are quite accustomed to helping BSC Knotties such as yourself squelch the BSCness.

Oh, and planning a wedding before you're engaged is BSC (bat sh!t crazy, since I'm sure you haven't lurked).

I think you should plan a SURPRISE elopement. Possibly at an ice skating rink. How fun would THAT be??

Look I usually will stay out of threads like this because I don't have the patience for it. But today against my better judgement and in the face of going against the grain I want to say....

If you had phrased the post better then we all wouldn't be here. Sure I can support that you came here to just ask hypothetical questions. Its slow and I don't mind partaking in that. If you and your mate aka boyfriend have discussed eloping in passing or as a "someday" topic that's fine. Acknowledge that it's a some day topic or that you were hypothetically thinking about it and we all here can get along. Pre-planning and BSC are very big ticket issues here from what I can see and those who exhibit those quirks get struck down quick. Just drop the thread and go back and offer an olive branch and tell more about YOU and let is get to know YOU.

I know I'm really late to the party and it looks like you had so much fun! But to be honest I didn't even relate this poster to the other thread. I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt since she didn't give many details up front and only used the term mate which has been used anywhere from referring to a friend all the way to a spouse.
