Pet Peeves - TK edition
Just because I'm feeling feisty today.
1. When everytime you post, it's a fucking novel. One one hand, I admire these people for the amount of words floating around in their head at all times, but on the other hand, I really don't want to sift through all of those words to get to the main point.
I also think of it like I think of the people that refuse to tell their child's sex or name before it's born. Do you really think what you have to say is that important that the only way to cover it is to write 20 paragraphs about it? No. It's not.
2. When posters make some dumbass statement and then run away never to come back to defend it. It happened last night in Tide's thread and it bugged the shiit out of me. I think Bluebride also did something similar on CC in a thread.
I think, for me, part of what bugs me is that I like to argue / debate sometimes and when they don't come back, it leaves me with a yuck feeling because as much as I say I don't like drama all the time, I do enjoy it sometimes.
3. When people gang up on a poster and treat them like shiit because of something they said weeks ago or because it's the cool thing to do. It was the cool thing to hate me for a while, and if some key posters had not given me a chance, I would be long gone.
And now I realize that I'm a total hypocrite because I've just posted a novel. But whatever. Now, you go.

I wasn't here for that, but I agree with this. Along those lines, when people automatically assume you're an idiot, classless, tacky, or an otherwise sh!tty person because God forbid you don't agree on something wedding or not wedding related. Not everyone thinks like you. Get over it.
*This does not apply to the people who think it's okay to treat their friends like slaves during the wedding or constantly trash their poor and vampire-pale FI.

I've never understood the dramatic 'making an announcement' about leaving a board. If you're going to, just be done with it. If you need a break, take it. Come back when you're ready.

Definitely this. Also I hate when the into post is like, "Hey all you snarky snarks! I love this board because I'm a snarky snark too and I have a sarcastic sense of humor and I looooove to snark!" This could be resolved by changing the name of the board to Laser Cats.
I also am very annoyed by posters who make every.single.post about them. PeonyPrincess is, I think, the biggest for doing this. Any time she responds to a post on GIS it turns into "well, I'm doing this, but it's not working, so help me, not OP, but I don't want to do this or this, but me me me"

Can I make a confession? Unless you are a mega poster, I probably didn't know who you are at first because I'm usually trying to read/catch up with the post and have a bad habit of not paying attention to names/avatars...I know a lot of posters by their sigs and when they are changed, it screws me up. Its not a complaint and yes, I know that makes me the ultimate lazy a$$. See, that's totally fine with me. I mainly recognize people by sigs or avatars, so I'm do the same thing. But it's the whole making an intro post and saying that you are a long time lurker that gets me. I refuse to believe that if they are truly a long time lurker that they don't have at least one favorite and one poster that bugs the shiit out of them. Even if they only say "the girl with the whatever in her sig". Ya know?
When people pick at small spelling or grammatical errors. People who have little of value to say themselves seem to be fond of that.
When someone posts about an already married person who is being honest about having a vows renewal, "official" wedding or whatever goes into the negative "You just want a pretty princess day" thing OR the "gift grab" thing. Hey, who SAYS they are accepting gifts? Oh, and YOU had you "pretty princess day" but she should not? It's not like she got two of them! If the invitees are all butt hurt it is not a "real" wedding, they do not have to attend.
Assuming an At Home Reception following a DW is a "gift grab". Again, who says they are even accepting gifts? Who says they are inviting anyone they did not invite to the wedding? Don't assume it's rude.
As Cew said, hating on a poster just because it's cool, or because they said something you disliked six weeks ago, or anything else that screams "Jr. High Mean Girl". Trust me, it does not make anyone look smart to act that way.
Taking your arguments to the personal level. Just because you are having a dispute with someone on Destnation weddings, Tuesday night at 3:00 am weddings, or whatever does not mean you get to call them an asshole or a bitch or an idiot. If you have a brain and something to say, please stick to the topic at hand.
