In Response to Re: opinions : Ha, yep that'll do it! On a semi-related note, I totally judge this deaf woman I met at a party a few weeks ago who was bitching about how it's not fair that it's illegal to text while driving, but not illegal to talk while driving.  She said it discriminates against deaf people who can't talk on the phone so have to text instead. OMG, lady.  I'm all for equality, but there's a REASON that texting is illegal, and I promise it has nothing to do with wanting to discriminate against deaf people. And I say that as a deaf person myself.
    Posted by LP11509
Wow I must have a reading fail, I didn't even know you were deaf! Are you fully deaf or just partially?

And there's a HUGE difference between texting and talking. Nowadays with phones, you can't text without both hands, whereas talking you have a hand (and your eyes!) free. Although back in the day when I had my razr, I could text one handed w/o looking.

Or we should only discuss weddings.  Future brides can only talk about their wedding plans and old hags - I mean, past brides - can only regail the future brides with fluffy tales of their own wedding and what a marvelous experience it was.  You know, blowing rose colored smoke up each other's ass all day long.

You're supposed to brake and stopped as much as possible, but let off the brake (and accelerate slightly) right before impact.  That way the 'nose' of your car is pointing up so the animal goes under your car, instead of going up and through your windshield.

This was one of the first things I learned in Driver's Ed.  The lesson was followed immediately by a discussion about whether or not it's legal to keep the deer if you kill it. (In WI, it is.)

See, I've heard that speeding up a little actually does work, because it gives your car a bit of levarage to "lift" the big animal over the hood and windshield so they have a greater chance to fly off the top rather than just bashing in to the front.
I have no idea if that's true though

  • I feel bad for my FIL because if there's a car accident involving a deer and he responds to the call (he's a cop) he has to take care of the deer. Meaning, if the deer is not dead from the impact he has to shoot it. :(
