I want to know

Re: I want to know

• Ricks, I totally agree with you. I don't watch fox news because of the polarized and skewed view that SOME of their on-air personalities have. But that doesn't mean all. And you are right on the money as far as Lou Dobbs goes. I think anyone that wants to comment on some of the asinine things said on Fox should accept that some asinine stuff has also been said on MSNBC and CNN. I have been avoiding all 3 more and more lately. That being said, I agree with some stuff in the bill, but not all of it. I think people that don't have healthcare should be able to have access to it in an affordable way, but being someone who works in the medical field in a way, I don't like that part of the bill would allow private insurers to "pass the buck" in certain situations, onto the federal healthcare system. This will only perpetuate some of the problems people face with private insurers. (note: I have read up on this a little bit, and this is what I gleaned from it - not claiming to be an expert)
• Maybe they could draw up a new bill that will put just Sarah Palin in front of the death panel. I mean firing squad. I mean death panel.

• SarahSmile, do you think foxnews has been conveying accurate information about the bill to it's viewers?I think all stations are providing inaccurate infortmation to the viewers based on how they want to spin the stories. I do not think Fox is any more guilty of that than MSNBC or CNN.
• Hee, Hee East. Oh yeah. I forgot. Hawaii doesn't count since it's an island. ;P PS, I can't spell Hawaii= had to goggle.

• The general public knows very little about government or current events. I facepalm every time I think about the fact that they get to be on juries or vote.

• I'm fairly confident a story questioning a certain report is different than generalizing people who watch a news station. It wasn't a certain report, it was multiple reports.  From multiple commentators.  And if you ask what news channel the people who think there's a death panel going on watch, what do you think they're going to say?  MSNBC?  CNN?  C'mon.

• Nugget, the seniors are the biggest voting group and I think whatever they like best in terms of health care is going to win because they will turn out in mass numbers, probably even bigger than past years, because this so greatly affects them. Great.  Then someone should make sure they know their facts before letting them vote.  Especially about things as simple as who runs Medicare.

• SarahSmile, even the BBC has been doing stories over the inaccurate stories and commentators on FoxNews. So... yah. I'm fairly confident a story questioning a certain report is different than generalizing people who watch a news station.Well, they weren't generalizing the people, but during the report, it mentioned various times that Fox News has a history of skewing the truth.  When the news you watch skews the truth, the people who WATCH that news, get skewed ideas.  How is that not obvious?Should I say skewed some more? lol
• I want to strike Sarah Palin in the face repeatedly with my shoe.Where does the line start?
• And for the record, while I am a moderate Democrat, my FI is a Republican as is his father, and we have tons of great debates. I don't hate Republicans.  I don't hate their ideas.  I do, however, hate Fox News.  And Rush Limbaugh.  And anybody else who uses people's fears and spreads misinformation to put more money in their pockets.  And yes, that does include Chris Matthews and Lou Dobbs.

• Yes, I've watched foxnews, just to see for myself what's being said. And maybe I should have pointed the finger at the media in general, because I don't think any major news organization has done a good job of addressing this issue. Someone immediately should have spoken up, read the 5 measly pages of the bill that covers this on air, and just been done with it.I've seen programs on foxnews supporting the death panel accusations but I'm sure there have been other networks out there who have as well. My question is, even for the rightest of the right wing, how can anyone believe it?

• I don't know how people believe this. Although I can't stand Palin, her quotes the past year have been priceless. In fact,  if she and Rupert Murdoch hosted a daytime t.v. show, I'd watch it. I think the absolute best part of the healtcare reform is that people couldn't be denied b/c of past health issues. That helps me and my family immensely.

• I was freaking embarrassed when I saw some of the clips they were showing on BBC from town hall meetings. People shouting and screaming incoherently and frankly, not knowing what the hell they are talking about. That was BBC spinning the story. The majority of the Americans showing up at these town hall meetings are not screaming or "not knowing what the hell they are talking about." The majority of them are every day citizens who are coming to ask legitmate questions so they can understand this bill and make their voices heard. Have you watched any of the town hall meetings on video from start to finish? Try that and you will see something completely different than what BBC is showing you.
• MSNBC also has a history of candy coating Obama and his Adninstration. CNN also skews the truth. Every news station skews the truth sometimes.  It's the news. What it boils down to is Fox catches all the flack (sp?) because it isn't liberal and not being liberal isn't cool these days.

• Question: Do inmates get full health coverage? If an inmate has a heart attack or breaks his leg is he rushed to the hospital and treated free of charge?
• I've seen programs on foxnews supporting the death panel accusations but I'm sure there have been other networks out there who have as well. I can promise that most of these people were Hannity, Beck, or the chick who's name I can't think of at the moment. Gah, she has blond hair.
image
• Well the obvious solution is to only get your news from Nancy Grace. She's the only reporter I know that uses excalmation points. And that means your legit right?
image
• Yes, I believe that inmates do receive full health coverage.  I thnk if they were denied that it would be considered cruel and unusual punishment and therefore an 8th amendment violation.
• Glenn Beck makes me want to throw up.

• I don't engage in political debates, but I concur with this statement: MSNBC also has a history of candy coating Obama and his Adninstration. CNN also skews the truth. Every news station skews the truth sometimes. It's the news. What it boils down to is Fox catches all the flack (sp?) because it isn't liberal and not being liberal isn't cool these days.
• Amoro, do you eat skewed meat on a skewer? :P

Have you watched any of the town hall meetings on video from start to finish? Try that and you will see something completely different than what BBC is showing you.Wait.  What?  Did you just accuse the most reputable news source in the world of spinning a story?  Really?  In denial much?I never said that was on the BBC either, by the way.  I've seen this scene repeated on Fox, BBC, and CNN international.  So... if it's not really happening all that much, why is it on there? My favorite part though, was when Arlen Specter was holding a Town Hall, and this woman got up in his face and was shouting at him and said, "I don't want you to turn this country into a RUSSIA"  um... what? lol
• When the news you watch skews the truth, the people who WATCH that news, get skewed ideas. How is that not obvious? It's all a matter of opinion. Many of us think that people who watch MSNB get skewed ideas. How is it not obvious that this is subjective to perception?

What it boils down to is Fox catches all the flack (sp?) because it isn't liberal and not being liberal isn't cool these days. This hits the nail on the head.
• What it boils down to is Fox catches all the flack (sp?) because it isn't liberal and not being liberal isn't cool these days. No, what it boils down to is the fact that Fox News is the one spreading things like "death panels" and "why hasn't Obama shown his birth certificate" when he actually has, or Hannity pushing "conspiracies" about his birth, or "Obama is friends with terrorists".  Once again, whoever screams the loudest needs to make sure that the have their sh*t together when they open their mouth.

• What it boils down to is Fox catches all the flack (sp?) because it isn't liberal and not being liberal isn't cool these days. I disagree with that. There are plenty of ways to have conservative values and not be a douchebag about it. It seems like Fox News hasn't really found a way to do that lately.

• Why yes, Ang, yes I do.  Preferably with onions and tomatoes.
• Sarah, yes, inmates have better health coverage that millions of law abiding citizens. I didn't intend to get into a debate about the general bill or foxnews. I guess I had wishful thinking and really hoped there was some reasonable explanation for people believing the death panel accusations. I'm still really interested in the perspective of someone who believes it, but I don't think anyone here does, or they just don't want to admit it.

• This could be a complete joke, but does anyone know where I can get a brief written summary of both side of the health reform bill? Website maybe? I want a somewhat unbiased view- is that is even possible these days!  I seriously have no idea what is included, but I want to know.  However, I do not have time to read the 1200 page bill.  Boo.
• The BBC is very liberal. I have seen many liberals get violent over their causes too. Of course the news doesn't cover this as much as say covering conservatives getting violent. It It is stupid for either party to promote violence to get anything done.
