Re: I want to know

• I've got to disagree with you, Amoro. Europeans love believing that Americans are bunch of screaming loons. :) It makes them feel better about France. (joke)Shoot, that's why they LOVE to watch the French run around like idiots!  When the French are behaving, they can always find something the Italians are doing that's interesting. lol
• Sorry Sarah, I think Family Guy or South Park are the best places to keep up with current events.

• I miss the days of when the Daily Show was funny and had fake news stories about the "Unipooper" and had light and airy interviews with celebrities. I turned it off after all the Bush bashing started. And I'm not a Republican, I'm a Libertarian.

• Why don't we just all agree that Jon Stewart is the best source of all news information and we can just all it a day? Agree.

• South Park is on it. I mean, the night of the election that had an Obama Wins episode. I wonder is they also had a McCain Wins episode waiting just in case.
• There are moderate and Democrat news casters, not just guests and they don't only go on the Hannity show. Alan combs had his own radio show on Fox.I was using an example.  I like shows where there's an equal debate, even if it does get heated.  When you have a cohosted show with both parties, both hosts get a say.  When you have a show with the host, the station, and a least one other guest on there of one party, and one guest of another, you don't get much of an equal debate. Let me say I feel the same way about shows over on MSNBC that are condensending and rude to their Republican guests.  And there may be, but people aren't watching them, they're watching O'Reilly and Hannity and Glenn Beck.  I find it very telling that you hear more from Limbaugh and his cohorts about what the Republican party's about, and what they stand for, and their beliefs, than you do the Republican party chairperson.  And that Steele felt the need to apologize to Limbaugh for saying he wasn't the face of the Republican party.  Why would he need to apologize to some talk show host for that?  It ticks me off because none of these people are really reporting the news.  They're taking facts, and inserting their own opinions, and twisting ideas and getting people worked up and pissed off and freaked out, all to keep putting cash in their pocket.  And like I said, I feel the same way about Chris Matthews and Lou Dobbs.

• What I've most taken away from this thread is that I want a piece of pink cake.

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
• I don't understand the screaming loonies at town hall meetings either. It's a town hall meeting, the purpose of it is to have a conversation. Instead, these wackos are coming in and throwing a temper tantrum. What is that supposed to accomplish?

• Also, that melindandcorey is not the sharpest knife at context comprehension.  haha.

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
• Yeah, an opinion piece. Not hard news.Hannity also did a show on it the middle of July.  And he's mentioned it since then.

•  O'Reilly is a moderate and has stood up for Obama several times as well as question his administration.
image
• I'm about 90% sure they made a "McCain wins" episode too, but the important question is: will we ever get to see it?   Maybe on DVD?
Leo says hi. He's...special.

• If I could marry John Stewart or Stephen Colbert and have their babies, I totally would.

• Oh man, tlv, can you imagine if it got leaked onto YouTube?  My takeway from this thread is that in the next election, we need to ALL vote Libertarian.
• And there may be, but people aren't watching them, they're watching O'Reilly and Hannity and Glenn Beck. Th Republican party is ball-less right now. It is rather sad.

• Everything that Salt said.
• Everything that Salt said.LOL, okay.

• The problem with voting Libertarian is that you're pretty much throwing your vote away. I will vote straight Republican in the next election, because I think that will make more of a difference.

• what is your opinion on the death panel issue?I have never seen evidence of death panels. Services would have to be streamlined and cut to keep the plan affordable for the American citizens, but I don't see any evidence of outright "death panels."And Nugget, O'Reilly and Hannity have opinions shows. They don't claim to be straight news. They are opinion shows that have guest panels on nightly to discuss opinions on current events.
• O'Reilly is a moderate and has stood up for Obama several times as well as question his administration.Be that as it may, his show has always had a strong Republican leaning.  And it's definately not a no-spin zone. But whatevs, I'm obviously not going to change your mind and you aren't going to change mine, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

• My takeway from this thread is that in the next election, we need to ALL vote Libertarian. Yes, heels. I agree with that! But that's the problem with the "two party" system we currently have. Neither the Dems nor the Repubs are getting it right, and the smaller parties never get the chance to because we are outnumbered.
• We have a Libertarian who runs for the Senate every election, and always loses. Partly because he's BSC, partly because he is blue. (Seriosuly, blue. He took silver because he was afraid of what would happen with Y2K). He ruined libertarians for me.
image
• It's kind of a shame that you let one person ruin an entire group for you.
image
• The problem with voting Libertarian is that you're pretty much throwing your vote away. I will vote straight Republican in the next election, because I think that will make more of a difference.NOOOO!  You can't think that way.  What if . . . what if our forefathers thought they were "throwing their vote away" if they didn't vote for the Whigs?  Where would we be now?  Or something.
• Yes, heels. I agree with that! But that's the problem with the "two party" system we currently have. Neither the Dems nor the Repubs are getting it right, and the smaller parties never get the chance to because we are outnumbered. I completely agree with this.

• Our forefathers had a lot more chutzpah than we do today. And more body odor too, probably.

• Here are some quotes from Obama that helped start the death panel scare. They are from a NY Times Article that you can read here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/03/magazine/03Obama-t.html?_r=2&partner=rss&emc=rss&pagewanted=all THE PRESIDENT: So that’s where I think you just get into some very difficult moral issues. But that’s also a huge driver of cost, right? I mean, the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out here. NYT: So how do you — how do we deal with it? THE PRESIDENT: Well, I think that there is going to have to be a conversation that is guided by doctors, scientists, ethicists. And then there is going to have to be a very difficult democratic conversation that takes place. It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels. And that’s part of why you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance. It’s not determinative, but I think has to be able to give you some guidance. And that’s part of what I suspect you’ll see emerging out of the various health care conversations that are taking place on the Hill right now.
