  • I'm here!  FI and I are enjoying a lazy weekend at home after two whirlwind weeks with family.  I'm trying to come up with some WR projects for my mom and aunt to do because they both desperately want to help with something, but I'm in pretty good shape.Nebb: I'm super excited for Mad Men tomorrow, too!

  • I'm here now. I spent most of today driving around to scope out houses DH and I are interested in buying. We found one that has huge potential but a somewhat crappy (45 minute- 1hour) commute for me. Now I'm making jewelry while watching football and waiting for something interesting to happen on here.
  • Nebb - Whatever I can get my hands on in the on base library. Somewhat limited, but pretty good. Last week I finished up the new Wally Lamb and a John Irving I had somehow not read yet, and now I've moved on to summer chick lit - three Meg Cabot books, and a pretty cute book called Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, I've got a Christopher Moore half finished in my outside reading area (highly recommend him to anyone who likes hilaaaarious) and Boomsday! by someone in the bathtub reading area.Pretty much, if you'll put it in my hands, I'll read it. Buddy limits me to 5 books at a time from a library, but I don't see why. They're FREE!

Brie - Im excited but so freaking disappointed in Canada. NO canadian station is airing the new episode (or the new season) so I have to wait for it to go online. I normally watch stuff on ninjavideo which is good at getting shows up in a couple of hours but I wont be able to handle sitting through work all day monday if I havnt seen it.
  • Watching a sappy Hallmark movie.  I just realized I have been sitting here with a huge cheesy grin plastered on my face for a good 10 minutes.  Apparently, sappy Hallmark movies really affect me.

I love the library. I need to get back there. Do you like stephen king at all? Im really trying to push people into reading the dark tower series. I finished it a few months ago and am still blown away by how... epic it is. Im re-reading it right now, but trying to buy it rather than take it out of the library.
  • Nebb, I've started renting the mad men DVDs because of a promotion at work, and I thought of your signature pictures.Holy crap, Don Draper could light my cigarette any day.

  • I keep writing a post and then nuking it before it goes up. I think I've done it about 12 times now. *sigh* I had a craptastic day w/ the family so I'm thinking I might just pour a gigantic captain and diet and bury myself in projects tonight.

  • Nebb - I do enjoy Stephen King, but unfortunately, I am highly suggestible and extremely prone to nightmares so I have to limit my exposure to his genre. I think I've read one of the Dark Tower series, but I'm not too sure. I've really heard a lot of good things about it, though, so I might try it at some point. Is it pretty... er... dark?

  • I woke up at 4:45am to wake up fi because even though he is 31 I am afraid he cannot without my help, make his very early appts.(He had a teleconference-international.)Then i drove myself crazy all day about this wedding I am apart of in 10 weeks from today. I am exhausted and fi is watching xmen and eating ribs. (i made the ribs so i can't complain.)but this is why i am here.i think i am going to drink.
  • Nebb: Aww, that stinks.  If you want to be spoiled, I'm willing to oblige, but I always think that the beauty of that show is in the details.  FI would totally leave me for Joan Holloway.  She is his #1 fantasy.  It's cute.Temerity: Which Wally Lamb?  I just finished I Know This Much is True and The Hour I First Believed.

Is it sad that just made me tingle a little bit shelly. I cant describe how incredible the dark tower series is.Im glad you like mad men :) its hard getting people to just watch it because how do you describe it? Its a show about men who work in an ad agency in the 1960s... Doesnt SOUND interesting, but its so good.
  • TJ-- You should read (if you haven't) Jane Eyre.  I just finished it, and it was fantastic.I'm also a big fan of "Great Expectations".

The dark tower series has dark elements, but nothing frightening or scary, per se. There has only been ONE stephen king book to scare me (Geralds Game - dont read it. The space cowboy will haunt you). A lot of his books tie into the dark tower series, everything is connected to the tower.
  • I love it.  I've always been curious, but I don't watch a lot of TV.  We started this Mad Men promotion (at BR) where I work, and everyone was like "Oh this show is great!"  So I've rented season 1, and I'm almost done with Disc 3, I love it.

  • very vaguely trying to get stuff together to take up to M's tomorrow afternoon.  A friend of hers dropped off some clothes yesterday and I'm debating because they're winter and I don't feel like packing stuff up.Think I go make a gingerbread man for the baby and put pretty frostings on it
  • OOT -- I think you should send some of the gingerbread men this way.

shelly - the season finale is going to shock you. Our jaws literally dropped, we didnt see it coming.
  • Does Peter announce he's actually a woman?  Because that wouldn't shock me.

  • Brie - I just finished The Hour I First Believed. I liked I Know This Much is True as well, and She's Come Undone is my favorite.shellydiane - Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books, ever. I liked Great Expectations as well. Have you read Emma? That's another excellent one. Gives me the sniffles.Nebb - I've been kind of scared off Stephen King because when I was much, much younger - maybe 8 or so? A friend put on "IT" and there was the clown in the sewer and oh my god my dad slept on the couch for a week because I was taking his spot in the bed with my mom. I've read The Shining as well, which took me weeks to get through because I'd only peek at a page at a time. I think Buddy might actually have the Dark Tower series around so I'll peek at it soon.

  • sure, just give me the address ;)now I'm debating if I should make them lobster shaped.  I do have the lobster cookie cutter. I could put red frosting on them, he'd love that.hmmm
  • Nebb, I think the only currently airing show I love more than Mad Men is Big Love.  Do you watch that at all?  Does anyone?  I'm completely obsessed.
