Everyone is awesome...or afternoon thread

Re: Everyone is awesome...or afternoon thread

  • That sounds good - what was it stuffed with? Cream cheese?
  • That reminds me, my mom used to make what she called Mexican French Toast - french toast dipped in some kind of batter and then fried.  Stuff was amazing and she lost the recipe years ago.  Last time I searched on line I came up with nothing - wonder if not that Pinterest is around I'll have better luck.

  • My cat really likes chewing on plastic, like plastic grocery bags, saran wrap, etc. so I always have to watch her if anything like that is around because lately I've noticed she actually tries to swallow it. Yesterday I'd cut the little plastic straps for hangers off one of my tops, and left them sitting on my desk. This morning I saw her chewing on one, and when I pulled it out she'd gotten the majority of it down her throat. The second strap is missing, and now I'm freaking out that she's going to have some kind of bowel obstruction or something. But she's eating normally and been acting fine all day. What kind of cat wants to eat plastic?

  • All pets like to eat things that freak their owners out. That's been my experience anyways.

<div>I missed it too since I've been so crazy faced. But my cat does the same stupid thing. She totally digests it though, and pukes it back up later. Lovely creature she is.</div>

  • My mom makes fantastic stuffed french toast. I kind of want breakfast for dinner now. Too bad I don't have cream cheese.

    <div>Oh, haha, I probably have! </div>
  • I don't think I've ever had stuffed french toast. I adore regular French toast, though. That was one of the first foods I was ever allowed to cook myself when I was little.

We had french toast in Puerto Rico on our honeymoon that was incredible. It was actual French bread instead of white, and had carmelized bananas on top with powdered sugar and delicious maple syrup. I'm literally salivating just thinking about it.
  • I'm really not a pancake or waffle eater, so if I do a big breakfast or breakfast for dinner I almost always make stuffed french toast. Or crepes. I love me some crepes.

I definitely recommend it, it's very filling though!

  • In England they make something called Fried Bread. When you're done cooking your bacon, you take a regular slice of bread and fry it in the leftover grease. It's actually really good, but super bad for you.
  • I've always wanted to make crepes too Erin, but I have the feeling they're harder than they look.
  • I'm probably going to have to make French toast for dinner now, haha. Maybe I'll try to stuffed versions.

good luck on your homework, Edie!

<div>As someone who hates bacon, this sounds awful, haha. But I can see how that would be good if you're a bacon fan. I'm a sausage links kind of girl. </div>
  • mmm, french toast. I think I'll add that to next weekends menu.
  • Okay, this is so incredibly petty of me, but I was just looking at our photographer's blog and they put up pictures of the wedding they shot the weekend before ours and the girl has my exact dress. And it annoys me for some reason, haha. I guess in my head I was the only person with that dress in the entire world?

<div>British bacon is actually different from American bacon. What is it that you don't like about bacon? You might actually like British bacon. </div>
  • Well, I don't like ham or pork (unless in breakfast sausage). I didn't realize British bacon was different though! I knew Canadian bacon was different.

<div>I'll be the good just-as-petty friend here and say you looked waaaay better in it. </div>
  • Oh, you probably also wouldn't like British bacon if you don't like ham.

    This (clicky) is British Bacon
  • Hey guys. I love days like this when we find out which month boards are truly wet blankets. There is always one or two of the "popular" months that are each year. I wonder who these people are IRL. Do any of them have a spine at all?
    image
  • Well, thanks Poke! I knew I liked you. :)

Ooh, now that I see the picture of British bacon I've definitely heard of it. And no I would not like it, haha. I really need to branch out in the meats I eat. I basically only eat chicken and the occasional burger or meatloaf.
  • We want to buy a new house next summer, but there's no effing way we'll be able to sell our current house that soon.
  • I want a house!!! *pouts*

That won't be happening for a long ass time, since we are stubbornly waiting til we can afford to build.
    image
  • Leisel - TBH if you're only going to like one meat, chicken would be the best one. It's so versitle.

Special - my Aunt and Uncle have been trying to sell their house in New Orleans for several years. I guess not that many people are in the market for a $1.5 mill house in that area.

Musu - are you talking about October 2012?
  • Wait, what are you talking about Musu? I think I visited my month board maybe once? It was dead and boring.
