    Meh.  Peets!

I've never been to a DD.  I think it's more east coast than west coast.  But I do love Krispy Kreme, is it similar?  (To be fair, I haven't had a donut in a long time, so I'm a bad judge of donuts in general although I love them and now crave them.)
  • So intercac is a debit card.  Why don't the banks just have visa debit cards like WE DO HERE IN MERICA?!

I really wish you guys could hear my growly AMERICA voice so this post would be as funny to you as it is to me.
  • we call it a debit card too, or interac

I think Krispy Cream is like king and all other doughnuts are it's lieges.

ETA: I don't think I used lieges correctly, did I? I think I meant subjects.

Leave me alone. I'm reading The Outlander right now.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: FFT? : You know, I always wondered why the lady at the American book store took my bank card and told me it was expired. Interac is a system set up where you use your bank card in addition to a PIN to pay people. It's like a credit card, but it's taken directly from your bank account.

Sounds like what we Americans call a debit card. Same process, different name.

Yeah, so do we. But do you guys have PINs for them? Because I told FI I lost mine and he was all "Check your account, make sure no one's using it" and I looked at him like he was an idiot.
  • I think mery stated it much better than I could, you can put your ticker up all you want, that's your prerogative, but I'm still going to roll my eyes at it until it says 8-12 weeks. It's a personal opinion that is shared by others. And again, I would feel awful to be all excited for someone if something did happen (and I do know many women personally who have had miscarriages and the heartache that comes with it, I'm not relying on statistics). I understand (well, not completely) the excitement of wanting to share, but personally, I wouldn't tell anyone but family and close friends. That's just me, just stating an opinion in FFT.

/further discussion on my part on the subject.

Yes, we have PINs. That's what makes it different than a credit card.

Yea, they have pins.  But when you pay, you always have the option to press credit instead of debit.  It still debits your account, but...really, I don't know what the difference is besides not having to enter your pin.  You just sign instead of using your pin when you use it as credit.
  • All better =) I was trying to use the shock factor on her of finding us in that position when she went back to look. I forgot to change it back before I posted. Sorry.

  • Mel, supposedly you have better protection if you sign instead of use your PIN and I think I get more rewards points if I do it that way.

FI had his debit AND credit card numbers stolen this year. Right before vacation and buying my e-ring. Yay! :)
  • actually, here they are introducing pins to use your damned credit card too, did you notice that any?

which sucks because i have a hard time remembering pins.. and of course both my credit cards have different ones

I think that's the whole reason TO tell people.  Having a m/c seems like it would be devastating.  Like if somebody came and stole your cat but maybe even worse.  Like really - I can't go to work right now - FML - sad.  Whatever "awful" feelings you feel when you have been excited for a friend who suffers a m/c pales in comparison to the shiitiness that your friend feels.

Yes we have pins, but for some reason some banks will charge you to use your card as a debit card vs. a credit card. It does the same thing. We just always say credit when they ask "Debit or Credit?" I never use my pin.
