Need Bridal Shower ideas

So I'm planning my Bridal Shower on my own (long story) and I'm a little stuck as to what I can do for favors. Its going to be Romero Britto themed so I want to incorporate alot of colors. So far I bought some of prints and will have them framed to put on the tables. What I'm super stuck on are favors! I have no clue what to do. I don't want to do truffles because I'm doing that for the wedding, so the next possibility was a candy station. What do you girls think? Any other creative idea I can use would be GREAT! TIA X 1000!!! =)

A candy station is always a good idea in my opinion.I ddin't really know who Romero Britto was until I just googled him. His art work is lovely.  Maybe find a favor that is based on the theme of the prints you are using. Like if you have a print with a martini glass then give martini/wine glass charms or something like that. hth :)

I don't want to come across mean, but may I ask why you are throwing your own shower, aren't you afraid it will come across as gift grabby?

Hi nane, I love the idea!!!! My sister's 24th birthday was "Britto" themed. I got her a cake that was inspired by it and it was beautiful! I can send you pics if you like. I think the candy bar idea is fabulous - you could get bold colored candies, and the favor bags could incorporate Britto - maybe on tags/labels?

Thanks SOOOO much for the ideas girls, you guys are the best! Meli I'll loooove you forever if you can send me the pictures of the cake and where its from.... that would be so cool to have! xonane24xo at aol.comWell, I'm not planning it myself because I wanted to or to be gift grabby but I see that time is ticking so I figured instead of waiting for my MOH to have a free schedule and start working on it, I might as well start myself since I would want to have it in Feb or March and I have to start looking where to have it at.Thanks again girls!!

Well, I'm not planning it myself because I wanted to or to be gift grabby but I see that time is ticking so I figured instead of waiting for my MOH to have a free schedule and start working on it, I might as well start myself since I would want to have it in Feb or March and I have to start looking where to have it at.A shower is not mandatory. You ARE throwing it yourself to be gift grabby. If I were your MOH, I'd stay home on the day of the shower and the day of the wedding. You sound like a peach.

BTW, planning any shower, let alone your own (tacky), seven months out is nuts. Mine was the month before my wedding. It didn't take the hostess (my cousin, not myself, since that is so gauche) five months to plan. But you (OP) seem like the type of girl to invite every woman invited to the wedding to a seated dinner with a full bar and dessert spread. Good luck with that.

Ummm Georgia, do I know you? I don't think I do and TRUST me I don't want to know you. To each its own, you have your opinion and thats fine, just a word of advise - don't pass such harsh judgement on people you don't know. I asked for shower ideas not your opinion on me. Shows how much you know I haven't even registered for gifts LOL! Have a great day Georgia!

    > I would want to have it in Feb or MarchUmmm, no.Showers are held in a 6-week window prior to the event, so your shower would be in April or the first week in May...And in SEPT 2009, you really don't need to damn your MOH and take over any planning of an APRIL 2010 event.

Oh yes, georgia, didn't you know that the rules of etiquette exist to be interpreted by each individual according to her specific needs? Geeeeze! I'm sure she's chosen the etiquette rules that apply to her and following them to the letter, while discarding only those she finds limiting of her special situation and circumstances!

Just because you haven't registered yet doesn't make planning your own shower any less tacky and gift grabby. You have a great day too, and bless your heart.

But if you really want planning ideas, you should post this on the Planning board.  They have all kinds of ideas for stuff.  Pull down the menu at the top and look under P, click on that board, then post there.

Look at Kristin Numbers making a funny!! Ha ha. Yeah, hop on over to P&E. We'll help you with your obvious lack of etiquette as well.

Kristen how do know that there is an "appropriate" time to throw it? I have never heard of this. I always thought it was when bride and BM's wanted to do it

NANE - do what you have to do. every girl deserves a shower, NO MATTER WHO THROWS ITThis is the kind of crap that makes all brides look crazy. Nobody DESERVES a shower. This is why local boards are NMS. People lie to each other here.

Please don't "scoop" to our level. We obviously don't know what we're talking about.http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071021105727AAqCh3iQuestion: Is it dumb to throw your own bridal shower?Answer: I feel sad for you, but throwing your own shower would appear really lame and perhaps you would feel a little humiliated by doing so.http://www.articlerich.com/Article/Bridal-Shower-Etiquette-Do-s-and-Dont-s/334168Topic: Bridal shower etiquette"Don’t assume that your friends just have to throw you a shower – they don’t.""Never throw your own bridal shower, it’s tacky. Showers are generally seen as gift receiving functions where the presenting of the gifts is a major part of the proceedings. Any occasion where receiving gifts is given such huge importance should not be thrown by the person themselves. Don’t ask friends to throw you a shower either.
