OMG Montreal has the best food ever. I had grilled calamari with a bourbon paprika sauce when I was there last time. Amazing. And the best beavertails are on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa. Nom.

Fische - well, we wouldn't have a BBQ because we wouldn't want to eat meat. ;-) And we don't have a yard. When we throw parties, we usually make or order in the food. People seem to like it. I actually asked FI once if he thought we should get sandwiches for a party and he said, "No, I don't think we should change the "rule" for other people." Um, okay. He got a platter of vegan sandwiches, which people were intrigued to try and ended up liking. And like I said, my two best friends are vegetarian, so they're cool with it. I find that people usually don't complain about the food if it's free (except my Dad). I try to serve things that people don't notice are vegetarian, like cheese tamales or vegetable platters. It doesn't scream "TOFU HERE" or anything.I do know omnivores and vegetarians who live together and just cook meat separately, which I was totally willing to do. Like I said, my fiance just thought it would be a nice show of solidarity or something to not do it. And it's actually really nice, especially since I do most of the cooking and I have no idea how to cook meat!Okay, while I don't keep fennel in the house, I guess it's not totally the same thing - Not only do I have trouble digesting meat, but I have moral issues with it. FI is his own person, it's not his diet, so he can eat it, but I guess it would make me uncomfortable. That's not to say I've never lived with roommates who ate meat. I fully understand it's my diet and try not to impose it on others.It's just what works for us.

I've never seen ketchup crisps in the UK. Prawn cocktail chips from M&S are amazingness. And the bacon rasher chips. Those are brilliant too... And just about any and all Walkers. Now I'm feeling munchy...

arbolita - I must have missed it. I lived in MD from 2000ish until this past March. Buddy is stationed out here in AZ and they refused to transfer him out to the East coast, so now I live near Phoenix.

I put my tongue to one. My sister picked them up at the liquor store on the way home and thought they might be similar to the Andy Capp's Hot Fries that she LOVES. Big mistake. I must admit that they drove the cat absolutely insane. They were better than catnip. But the whole house smelled of them.
