Re: ohhey Thursday

  • Sorry about the job stuff, les. I hope everything works out for you.

jcb, cutting up the tree roots would likely kill the tree, if not right away then over time. You would be opening the tree up for infection and disease, and weakening the overall structure. Apparently, as I learned recently, even tree climbers who use spikes to get up trees can cause a lot of damage, because those holes can introduce bacteria and other bad stuff.

Duds, the link just brought to a page of a bunch of dresses.

I'm guessing you meant this one though? http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/coach-tour-dress-in-jade

I like it! I love the neckline.

ETA: duh. I get it now. Your link was to all of the same dress in different colors. Sorry, I'm a little behind today.
I'm baaaaaaack (and finally caught up).  My apt went well.  Apparently I've got a boring pregnancy, which hey, I'll take any day.  Nebb, I was SUPER into space when I was in about grade 7-8.  I still enjoy it, and have some fun constellation apps, but I wish I knew more again!

I think its interesting but I can never remember where anything is. Apparently mars is also rising in the east and is visible around pm too but I couldn't see it. If you're out tonight. There is a very bright "star" lower to the horizon in the west (slightly south west), that's venus, slightly higher in the sky but just as bright is jupiter.

One of the apps I have is an augmented reality one.  You activate it, hold it up and it overlays the positions of things so you can find them.

Constellation wise, I know where a few keys ones are/know enough about what they look like to find them (the dippers, cassiopia, orion, etc).  Seeing planets is always cool though.

I'm always astounded by how many stars you can see out at the IL's place east of Ptbo.  There's so much less light polution up there.

  • Good morning!

I am being filmed for the next six days of teaching and some of it will be evaluated. I am kind of nervous! I hope it goes well.

  • Steph- I did the same thing with the dresses for about a minute, then I figured it out.

Boss came to me yesterday and suggested that I transition to the land tech instead of geology tech.  It would solve some of the aspects I don't like about htis job, but the hella commute would still be there...So, I guess I'll try it out and see if I'm happier.

Tonight is our Cirque du Soleil Dralion show!  I'm so excited!  Woot woot!!!

    Sesh, hugs to you.

    Happy day all!

Good morning! (Although you all have been up much longer than I have apparently)

I had a doctor's appointment this morning for something that ended up being nothing. I feel like I always call the doctor too early, but I don't want it to turn into something worse.

Then I ate McDonald's and now I feel kind of sick.

Crazy Stupid Love is a great movie. But I love Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone so much, so that may have helped me.

H took an astronomy class in college, but he can't tell me where anything is. He probably should have failed that class.

Lol frigging ptbo. I wanna go there for a visit but neither of us wants to have to see adams parents. I'd love to look at stars up there. There's a meteor shower in the summer and we watched it from here last year but couldn't see man - I bet we would see it amazingly up there :(

Also? Cassiopia sounds like a greek dessert to me lol
  • jcb, I think even if they could do that, Michael would still tell them to cut the tree down. He hates it. But it turns out that it might not be our tree that is causing the blockage, they are now thinking it might be something farther down in the sewer system. WHen the guys showed up our neighbor came out and said he's having problems with his water draining. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that, that's the problem. I think the city would have to pay for it at that point? Oh well, I'll be happy as long as I get to save my tree.
Dmil, while it sucks not to have water, it would be a nice ending if the city did indeed have to take care of it.  Why the tree hate?
    Posted by jcbsjr
It's huge, and it's kind of a pain in the ass. It sits directly in front of our living room windows and front door so we can't see out to the street. It's a blue spruce that I planted when I was about 6 years old, so I love it. (I ended up buying the house that I grew up in so there's lots of little things that I like because they remind me of being little...Michael gets annoyed by it lol)

  • That's exactly why I like it, it keeps people from driving past and being nosy. I don't think he'd have the heart to chop it down if it wasn't completely necessary. I think my dad is down there with him and he'd talk him out of it, too. He helped me plant the tree and he likes it, too :)

  • The landlords are finally taking out the tree by our house. I can't wait. They never should have built the deck around it in the first place. I should take pics today so I can do before-and-after shots. I'm curious to see how it opens the place up being removed.
