• I think poop and our digestive systems are interesting, doesn't mean poop isn't gross though.

I've tried reading this in a way that doesn't sound snotty, but I just can't.

You (general) can monitor your flow and blood without messing around in it or letting it leak down your legs, and still know about birth.

I have to (monitor, not the other), and I still don't know 100% how childbirth works. Mostly because I don't care; it doesn't apply to me. Apparently I'm doing it wrong.

I think it's a huge leap in logic to assume that the reason some people aren't completely informed about childbirth is that they think it's dirty, nasty, unclean, etc.

Also, I really don't know what I'm supposed to learn about my body from underarm hair.

• Anna, I get that.  But I also think it's incredibly lame to think I'm REPRESSED BY SOCIETY IN A MAN'S WORLD because I like to have smooth legs and armpits.  I think it's gross. I don't giveashit if you don't want to shave your armpits; I really don't.  But I personally feel gross if I don't.

That being said, shaving armpits is nowhere near comparable to enjoying the site and playing with your bodily excrement, and you know it.
• Blue you can't be grossed out by 2 girls 1 cup.  That's immature.

• The hospital where I gave birth wouldn't allow that.  I had to sign a form stating that I understood the placenta is biomedical waste and I was not allowed to keep it.

I could see staying attached for a short period of time (less than an hour?) but DAYS - no way.
In Response to Re: tk confessions!ayg?? : I kind of agree with this. I work in the medical field, and while I don't tend to encounter a lot of labour/delivery/pregnancy issues in my work life, I do get exposed to a fair bit of information about it and consider myself well-informed. Now that I'm pregnant, however, and reading up on some stuff, I realize how much more information there was to know and how little of it is "public knowledge" (for lack of a better phrase). Thing is, before being pregnant, that stuff didn't apply to my immediate reality, so it didn't matter and I wasn't too concerned with it all. I'm not saying that people should be ignorant of how their bodies work, but I can accept that not everyone is going to be 100% sure of how every last thing works inside.
Posted by september's bride
I def don't fully understand being pregnant but that's because I zero interest in learning about it, as I do not want kids. That being said I know a lot about the digestive system and the Urinary system.

Again- I am not grossed out by our bodily functions but sitting there playing with them with your hands isn't cool man. Nikki may be a lovely girl but come on...

• Yeah, anna. That's what you said just now.  But originally, you made a snide comment about how people would probably understand how childbirth works better if they played in their menses.  THAT'S what everyone was reacting too... but I'm not sure you understand that, because you refuse to respond to everyone who called you on that idiotic statement.
• I mean it gets under your nails and stuff. You'd have to scrub your hands pretty well before handling food.

• Yeah- you implied that since a few people here didnt understand the entire process of childbirth, it was clearly because playing with your period grosses them out.

I don't get how knowing more about how my bowels work will make me less grossed out about people handling poop.  Just like knowing more about my menses or childbirth will not make me less grossed out thinking about a woman ENJOYING the feeling of blood running down her leg and playing with the blood.  I don't get how knowledge = less grossed out.  Knowing more about something doesn't make it any less disgusting.  I don't find childbirth to be disgusting.  I don't find periods to be disgusting.  I don't find poop to be disgusting.  I find carrying around a placenta still attached to a baby to be disgusting. I find playing with poop to be disgusting. I find playing with menstrual blood to be disgusting.
