I think MIL is a great grandma to the kiddo...but when it comes to Defconn, she's annoying the crap out of me.
First of all, if she's holding him, she's constantly clicking her tongue or talking to him. Even when he's asleep. And of course it's always baby talk. The tongue clicking thing actually bothers me more than anything. I do it occasionally, but it's ever 2-3 minutes with her.
Second, last night when they were over, I told her I was going back to work on Monday. She said (to DefConn), "I thought mommy would let you sleepover before she went back to work." To which I said, "Well he's not STTN and I'm not ready yet for him to spend the night away." She said (again TO Defconn), "Mommy can come spend the night too." They live 1/2 hour away and we've been seeing them about once a week since DefConn was born. That's plenty of time. A sleepover is not necessary at this time. I'll sleep in my own bed and so will my baby. Thanks.
Third, she told me, like, 3 times last night to start putting rice cereal in his bottles so that he'll STTN. I'm not interested in doing that. He doesn't need it. He only gets up once a night. We're fine thanks. Before she left, she was all, "Ask the Dr next week about it!" Uh no, but thanks for the unsolicited advice!!
On the first item, there's not much I can do. But on 2 and 3, I was polite but firm in my response. If she keeps it up, she's not going to like me.
