Wedding Woes

BR

I think MIL is a great grandma to the kiddo...but when it comes to Defconn, she's annoying the crap out of me.

First of all, if she's holding him, she's constantly clicking her tongue or talking to him. Even when he's asleep.  And of course it's always baby talk.  The tongue clicking thing actually bothers me more than anything.  I do it occasionally, but it's ever 2-3 minutes with her.

Second, last night when they were over, I told her I was going back to work on Monday.  She said (to DefConn), "I thought mommy would let you sleepover before she went back to work." To which I said, "Well he's not STTN and I'm not ready yet for him to spend the night away."  She said (again TO Defconn), "Mommy can come spend the night too." They live 1/2 hour away and we've been seeing them about once a week since DefConn was born.  That's plenty of time.  A sleepover is not necessary at this time. I'll sleep in my own bed and so will my baby.  Thanks.

Third, she told me, like, 3 times last night to start putting rice cereal in his bottles so that he'll STTN.  I'm not interested in doing that.  He doesn't need it.  He only gets up once a night.  We're fine thanks.  Before she left, she was all, "Ask the Dr next week about it!"  Uh no, but thanks for the unsolicited advice!!

On the first item, there's not much I can do.  But on 2 and 3, I was polite but firm in my response.  If she keeps it up, she's not going to like me.

I hate hearing about the rice cereal too. If I wanted your advice on getting my kid to sleep, I'd ask for it.

And I'd rip her tongue out for the clicking. That annoys the hell out of me.

I've started to just walk away from MIL or smile and nod and say thanks...then come vent on here.

A woman in my mom's group was talking about putting syrup and Karo syrup in bottles.  I wondered if she was giving that bottle on the way to the Creation Museum.  They are all dying to go to the Creation Museum.

Huh. It was my understanding that no matter what the kid eats before sleeping, s/he will wake up when s/he wakes up. Be it every 2 hours or every 11 hours. It's all based on the child's own clock and not what's in their tummy.

Apparently I have teh dumb. But I also have a kid STTN on nothing but breastmilk and 2oz of formula before bed.
