  • Totally heartbreaking.  I mean, it's like choosing between her Fl and her baby.  That's so unfair she has to make that choice.  It takes two to tango.  Step up and be a man.  If she wants to keep it, you need to support her because you made it too.  And it's not like he was some random one night stand, they are getting married.  I am mad for her.  If my H ever came up to me and said you should get an abortion if we'd had an unplaned, OMG, I would die inside and probably couldn't look at him the same again.  I get taking some time to process things, but I hope he does.  My heart hurts for her.

  • Admar, me too.  I am hopeful that it is a knee jerk reaction.

  • Oh! Sorry guys!

Ugh, I haven't decided. I am having a hard time bringing myself to pull the trigger on the Pippa. It's just oooo expensive.

Habs, can you send the link to those running shoes again please?

I have the Minimus 20v2 trail.  It has a 4mm drop.  My mom has the Minimus Zero, which has no drop.  I use mine on road and trail, she uses hers on treadmill and road.

Heh. Sorry. I'm full of all sorts of fail at the moment. I meant Michigan schools.

Thanks Habs! It's got terrible reviews on zappos. :( hrm.
  • I just got new running shoes and I really like them so far... but they're not the minimalist kind. I didn't do a ton of research before I went out and bought them... I just went to the running store and bought what they recommended. What are the benefits to the minimalist shoes vs traditional running shoes?

  • I'm so sorry Bay!

I hope you all have a good day. I'm off to work. I hope it goes by quickly today.

  • Less padding teaches you to use your body correctly.  Most runners are over-padded for comfort and cushiness and most people don't know how to run correctly so that they aren't damaging their joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.  It's been shown that barefoot running teaches you to be the most anatomically correct when running and you land on the proper part of your foot, placed correctly under your body or else you will feel it in your calves quickly.

I don't miss the cushion at all.  I much prefer these shoes to any shoe I've worn.  They are comfortable, lightweight and easy to wear.  Also, my mom doesn't need her orthodics in hers.

  • Good morning!

I don't normally play over here but Stacks OP looked like an invite to me.

I've been thinking about getting minimus as well. My H has them and he seems to thump even more with them so I'm thinking he needs a running clinic or something. He sounds like a neanderthal on the treadmill.

  • That makes sense, Habs. Maybe I'll look into that for my next pair. I don't know how much of a runner I'm going to be, but I really want to run a 5k, so I just started training for that. I'm pretty much a beginner.

  • So am I.  I found I run better in them and my legs get less tired.  I think it's partly because they are so light (they honestly weigh like nothing) and partly because I'm running correctly.

And yes, you will be louder in them, but it's because he's landing his foot and not his heel.  You aren't supposed to land on your heel.  I thwack in mine a bit too.

Bay, I'm sorry to hear about your loss :(

My grandma is almost 95 and I swear anytime my dad calls I think it's to tell me that she's passed.  I feel so ready for it, but I know when it happens it will shock me.  She's my last grandparent.

  • Poke, it seems like yesterday you were over a month away! Time is flying. How much do you still have left to do?

You'll eventually get quieter in them when you start landing right on the good part of your foot directly below your hip.  The thwack will happen when your foot is slightly out in front.  I am getting quieter in mine every run.

I haven't had any blisters.  I wear thin socks though, but you are supposed to not wear any.  My mom wore thick socks once in hers and got blisters.  She hasn't gotten any with thin socks.

</div><div>I still need to get the marriage license, purchase parent gifts, finish my DJs planning sheet, buy things like guestbook, card box, garter, bubbles, alcohol, FI suit, and book the nail appointment. Oh, I think I'll need more postage for my TYs. And my hair trial is on the 29th. Since I booked them so close to the wedding I will actually pay them at teh trial, instead of 14 days out like they normally require. </div>

    Hey yall,
I just had my first counseling session and I felt like such a weirdo when I told him that a group of friends on the knot were the ones that encouraged me to seek counseling. Then he laughed and said he'd actually tagged along with a friend to a TK GTG in Phoenix!
