Confessions or UnPop Ops or something?

Re: Confessions or UnPop Ops or something?

  • I confess that I don't understand the flaming newb's disagreement on this thread, and I only want to understand so I can force my unsolicited opinion, once again Yell

  • Oooh I remembered it. Concert ticket giveaway on FB... the last two giveaways were fill in the blank song lyrics and a Disney trivia question. I could have nailed both of them if I'd realized they were doing the contest prior to today. I waited around for today's? It's a freaking caption contest on a stupid photograph.

    Color me annoyed.

  • I will delurk for this. My confession is after having a baby over 4 months ago, the weight is still there. Which means that long pants are here to stay for the summer....so I find it much easier to only shave my legs every month or so. On the downside it means I can't show off my Rebel Alliance ankle tattoo.

  • That's awesome balla.  The star wars part, not the hair part.  People are really un-observant, so I wouldn't take it personally.  I dyed mine RED once and no one noticed (it's auburn normally though, so it wasn't an ENORMOUS change but still)

Mbuckley makes me nuts too.  Cindy redux.

  • My parents went to see Star Wars on their first date.  My dad fell asleep.  My friends forced me to watch it in college when they found out I hadn't seen it. I fell asleep (though at least I wasn't on a date).  Bleh.

My H, however, is a self proclaimed nerd.  He decided awhile back that it would be a fun idea to watch every single episode of every single Star Trek series, along with all of the movies, in chronological order.  Did you know that there are 735 episodes/movies?  And they are all on Netflix? Yeah.  He has watched 130ish of them so far.  I can't wait until he finishes so I can have my husband back.

  • I've never seen Star Wars.

My irritation is Yahoo articles. Well, not the articles, but the comments. I admit, I like reading the entertainment ones at work because they are mindless and give me a break when needed. The comments are always "Yet another piece of oh-so-steller journalism, "WHY should we care about this?", "What a piece of garbage, who cares about these people" and the like.

If you don't want to read them, then don't click on the effing article. No one is forcing you to open them. I don't know why it annoys me so much, but it just gets me pissy.
  • I tried to watch Star Wars once, and I fell asleep.  It was a long time ago, though.  I might try again some time.

No, I think she's just crazy. All of her posts are about her FMIL or her parents want this and her ILs want this and it's about everything. I get that some families are crazy, but it seems like every little detail of her wedding has some sort of major issue. It's odd.

Also, people start giving her advice or questioning what her actual problem with her situation is and she doesn't take it and keeps going. That's when it gets annoying.

That sounds like something H and I would do.

We've seen every episode of Stargate SG-1. We haven't made it through all of Atlantis though.
  • I am a total Star Wars nerd. I even went to a convention! My obsession has quieted down in the last few years, but I'm still an unabashed SW lover.

Too bad the prequels kind of blew. Have you ever seen the review from Red Letter Media? It's like an hour long but it is one of the funniest things ever.
    CLICKY

    Confession:
I'm annoyed with H. He hurt his knee somehow and just had to get an MRI. He's quitting his job and going back to school in a few months. I had this awesome budget laid out, and now it's all effed because we're going to have to pay for this MRI. ALSO the MRI didn't even show anything. So now he has appointments for an Xray and a follow up with an orthopaedist. He had knee surgery several years ago and I'm so scared of the cost if that has to happen again. I agreed to and totally encouraged the job/school plan but now that he could end up with mucho medical bills, I'm nervous.

I know it's not his fault. It's a freak occurance with his knee. But I want to like, threaten him that if it costs a lot of money he can't quit and go back to school. But that's crazy, I know. Also, he whines a lot about how much it hurts. And he went home sick from work today. I have a low tolerance for his whiny butt right now. I'm trying not to be mad at him to his face over something that he has no control over, but it's hard!

The bolded makes me feel old.  I saw Star Wars in the theatres when it first opened.  Granted, I was a little kid but I do remember it.

I will happily talk Star Wars with anyone - pillow talk for me and FI has been known to be a discussion of the different fighters and why we like or dislike.  NERDS UNITE!

  • Thanks MUN1...I'm known in the group to do really outrageous things with my hair, because, well, it's just hair.  I'm gong back on the 20th, so I think I am going to try something else (even though it's short, I can change it up) and dye it Emma Stone red.  (I know she's blonde now). Hopefully that will make me feel better.

Irrational Irritation:  My H has no concept of putting his clothes in the hamper.  I get so irritated by it (that's the rational part) that I end up throwing all of his clothes on his side of the bed in a big pile (as well as the clean clothes that he refuses to put in drawers).  That's the irrational part.

  • Cfas, Teal'c (:  He's my favorite too.
  • Star Trek = awful.

    Star Wars = amazeballs.

I confess that my horse needed his annual shots and his teeth done, and it was almost a $300 bill, so I sold my sewing machine to my mom, put the money in my old account to pay it off and never told H any of it.  I feel mildly guilty about keeping it from him, but the horse thing is a sensitive subject.

  • I have all the original Star Wars movies, the Lego games for the Wii, and want to get the prequels.

I went to see SW 3 (the last prequel) with a co-worker when it was in the theater since we both got to leave work early that day.  When we met up at the place, he was dressed like Obi-Wan.

    I 2nd this.

I confess that I hate some of the most popular movies for my age group - Se7en, Fight Club, any of the Matrix trilogy, any Star Trek, any Star Wars (except the original).

And my unfair generalization is that if I had to start dating again I would never date a guy who is former military and under 5'10".  I think they all have a chip on their shoulder, a nasty temper and always are trying to prove how badass they are.

  • Just saw Chesney's video for "Come Over" - can't get into the sultryness (is that a word?) of the song and the sexiness that is his body because his hat was off and his bald head is just not.attractive.
  • Habs, I think it's kind of ridiculous that you have to hide that kind of stuff from your H.  He knew when he married you that you are a horse person and it's not cheap.  Roux isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so he needs to man up and just accept that he's there to stay and he costs money. Now, if you went out and bought a new horse or an unnecessary new saddle or something that would be one thing, but you shouldn't have to hide routine vet bills.
