Have you heard the Sweetest Love by Robin Thicke? It is goosebump-inducing amazing. Romantic, sexy and about a couple in love. Perfect!

we were debating between Andrew Bird 'Oh No' (but it's too fast and people wouldn't understand the lyrics) and Peter Bjorn and John 'young folks' (just a bit fast, but danceable) or Ben Folds 'the luckiest'. We ended up choosing Led Zeppelin 'Thank You'

I wanted "Thank God I Found You" by Mariah Carey w/ 98 Degrees but my FI wasn't thrilled with it.  It's very late 90's R&B-ish but the words and the melody are amazing.

We are probably going to wind up with "Lucky" by Jason Mraz & Colbie Callait.

Don't know if anyone's suggested this, but use Pandora or Last.fm to their fullest! Make stations with songs close to what you want, and you can find a lot more.

Our song is "Calico Skies" by Paul McCartney (it's on one of his newer albums). Some other ones I like just in general for weddingy songs are:

"The Promise" by Chris Murray (a sweet ska/reggae song)

"Something about your love" by Mason Jennings

"Days like this keep me warm" by the Polyphonic Spree

    The theme from "Up"

I like them because they I don't find them to be particularly cheesy.

I orignally picked Colorblind by Counting Crows but my sister and my fiance both thought it sounded a tad too depressing. Personally, I think it's beautiful but I picked Paul McCartney's This Never Happened Before instead and FI just loved it. Not too long, good tempo, and sweet.

    good luck picking!

We had a really hard time picking a song, but decided on I knew I loved you before I met you by Savage Garden. I also love Lets Stay Together by Al Green, but it's a little to fast for my dancing impaired husband to be! LOL!

We are not doing a first dance, but if we did, it'd be to Ryan Adams's "My Love for You is Real" - a little rock, a little country, a little indie, a little bit, but not too cheesy.  Plus, it's slow, so not too complicated.

    I love this thread!!

I originally wanted "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin - but we found that it is a little slow for dancing to, so we're using it during the ceremony instead. There were so many choices... these were our ideas:

His: "Swing Life Away" - Rise Against
           "Highway 101" - Social Distortion

Mine: even though I love my fiance's songs those ones aren't exactly "dancy" tunes
"You and Me" by the Dave Matthews Band is a great song
" Thank you for Loving Me" - Bon Jovi
     "I Am" - Bon Jovi
"Thank You" - McMaster and James (we're using this for the dance with the bridal party"
"Here for you" - Firehouse (We're using this for dance with the parents)

MY sister used "Love of a Lifetime" by Firehouse as her first dance, my other sister used "Crash" by Dave Matthews band for hers.

    Some other good song choices:
    "Love Song" - 311
"Ever the Same" - Rob Thomas
"No Matter What" - Def Leppard
"Good Times" - Tom Cochrane ( a really good dancing song)
"It's You" - Michelle Branch (A FAVORITE! but using at the ceremony)

And finally... we decided on "Better Together" by Jack Johnson... I had no idea how popular it was... but we are doing a tropical theme and what better way than to use Jack Johnson?! :)

I have been kicking around the idea of using Ray Lamontagne's "You Are the Best Thing" or James Morrison's "You Give Me Something." Both artists are hipster neo-soulsters whose songs sound old-school soul on the Adult Alternative tip.

We are dancing to a little-known song called "The Simple Things."  It's sung by Rebecca Lynn Howard but is found on Jim Brickman's CD.  It is perfect for my fiance and I!  You should listen and see if it might work for you!

Myself and my fiance are dancing to two songs joined together. We are starting with Adam sandler "I wanna grow old with you " and then we are scratching it with the Michael Buble song "Feeling Good". (Complete with choregraphed dancing) It should be a good time and we are hoping to set a fun mood for the remainder of the evening.

We are getting married on Friday the 13th (August 13th, 2010).

My fiance and I are dancing to Everyday by Dave Matthews Band.  The basis of the lyrics is "all you need is love, everyday".  I just think it's so simple, yet so true.  I'm a little worried that it might not be a good pace to dance a waltz too, but we're going to sign up for private lessons and if it seems it's going to be challenging to dance to, then we might change the song, to another DMB song of course, because we met at one of his concerts!  Dave has lots of awesome songs!  Crush and Crash are great too.

We are using Ray Lamontagne  "You are the Best Thing".  We also considered using Dave Matthews Band  "Two of Us", but that is now our entrance song for the reception.  Something more fun could be, All I want is You from the Juno soundtrack.
