Re: Monday Afternoon blows, and other NWR stuff.

  • I miss lifting. I wish there was a gym close to my house with a decent weight room. Cry

Exactly, Musu! Another one did something similar and told my sister someone put a curse on her. Then she tried to get my sister to buy these expensive candles to reverse the curse. It was really ridiculous.

ETA: I just realized I have been to a lot of these people. There were a lot of them by my house growing up and they were outside of every Carnival.

  • UGH me too adamar. I would be pretty content with my body if my love handles were gone. I wish I could just take them and put them in my boobs. It would be  a perfect fit.

  • Thanks Geaux, :) I Hope you AW some of those photos here too!

Eeyore, that is kind of hilarious. I don't get why people think that candles and shiit will reverse a "curse". bahah.

  • I don't have the rights to any of them yet (they are in Flash format on the photographer's website) but hopefully I will soon! If you want to see them I'll send you the info but it's a TON of pics, probably super boring for anyone but, say, me and my mom.

  • Anna, I bought a $25 set of kettlebells, just so that I could lift at home in case I didn't have time to go to the gym.  Of course they can get old, but I figured it's better than nothing.

Secretly, I wanted Matt to start using them, too.  He hasn't lifted in like a year.  But one step at a time.
  • MP, what are kettlebells?

Where did you get them MP? I like kettlebells, but I would be scared to swing them around the house. I could probably find somewhere to do it though.
  • Geaux, they are just weights that have a handle on them.  you can do a bunch of different exercises with them. I love them!  And they're in the Cross-Fit part of my gym so I can't use them there. (without getting yelled at)

  • Oh god I can just picture H's face if he saw me swinging kettle balls near the TV.  I think he would have a heart attack.  He gets freaked out if I hoop in the house.

  • Anna, this is the set that I got.

I'd really love a 20 or 25 pounder, too.  The 5 ain't gettin' too much use.

I'm always careful to swing AWAY from the fancy TV.

<div>Ahh ok, I had never seen those before! Probably indicative of how much I work out (whoops)</div>

  • We have a very unfancy TV. H would probably like me to swing kettlebells around the TV so he'd have an excuse to buy a new one.
  • Geaux, I think they're just starting to come into vogue in the last few years.  I think they're really used a lot with Cross-Fit, which is a new "fitness craze" that involves a lot of self weight exercises and bursts of cardio.

Most gyms probably don't have them out in the main area.  It makes me sad.
  • I'm in the same boat as Anna. H wants a new TV so bad he can barely stand it, he'd probably be thrilled if I crashed ours. It's not really old, it's just small, and he wants one of those giant 50+ inch TVs.

Geaux! I can't wait to see some of your pictures!

Working out - the only thing I've done at the gym since we joined is Raquetball (Racketball?), treadmill and bicycle. We're going on Thursday for some complimentary session that will let us both know what will benefit us each the best. I'm glad because I have no idea what I'm doing. Right now, I'm afraid of weightlifting but only because I feel awkward being this tiny little thing trying to figure out weights.

In HS, I was forced to benchpress and couldn't lift anything but the bar. Which weighed 45lbs (half of me at the time...).
  • Yeah, we have a huge box TV. It probably weighs like 100 lbs. When we moved that was the hardest thing to move. We should have just thrown it away then. I think part of our hesitation to het a new one is because we know we'd have to move the old one and we don't want to deal with it.

  • H doesn't care about the TV. Maybe because our TV is really old. His phone is a different story. If I ever dropped it, I would be scared for my life.

  • Midge, does your gym have a weight lifting class like Body Pump?  It's a good way to get acquainted with weightlifting (you choose the weights) without just being let loose in a gym.

Also, like others suggested "The New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women" is a GREAT resource!
  • I use professional dyes that don't bleed.  The only time I had an issue with bleeding was the first time I tried tie-dying and I used Rit dyes.  Those are now my workout shirts.

  • YES adamar. And I'll want pictures of you in the finished product.
  • Note to self: don't go to Alabama.

  • I saw that, Holly.  Glad you're all okay!

Adamar, why do you need a lab coat?  The tie-dye sounds cool.  It sounds like you'll do it yourself?  You're so crafty!

I need one for microbiology, and I assume I'll need it for A&P too.  Yes I tie-dye stuff myself.  That's not to say I don't still buy tie-dye, because I'm not perfect at it yet, but it's fun.  I dyed a bunch of stuff for the wedding.

[QUOTE]Afternoon ladies!  I survived the really bad weather this morning, and as far as I know, we have no property damage.  Stupid weather.  I'm tired of bad weather and tornadoes at this point.  Tornadoes seem to really like Alabama for some reason.

Glad that y'all didn't have any damage!
