Good Morning.

Re: Good Morning.

• Haha many times, yes.  Today I really do want a nap.  We'll see how that goes though.

• The only thing I have had issues with is people butchering my new last name.  I don't blame them though.  When I first started dating H, I had no clue how to pronounce it.  I went from a really easy last name to a really complicated last name.

It took forever for HR to get me the paperwork I needed to change my name.  My boss has explicitly said that I can't change my work e-mail.  We'll see how long that lasts.
• People butcher my last name all the time.  But it's spelled phonetically so I don't get it.

I haven't had a cup of coffee in about 7 years.

A lot of my students that I had before still call me by my maiden name.  Half the time I don't bother correcting them, but my coworkers correct them. hahah

I got an email this summer from one of my AP students (who is a big offender of constantly using my maiden name)... it started with "hey hey hey! Mrs. MARRIED NAME. See? I used MARRIED NAME because that is your last name."

it made me chuckle.

That is one reason I don't want to change my name.  Because my FI's last name gets butchered constantly, but his butchering is a little less offensive than my last name.  Eve though I don't understand the butchering of my last name since it is pronounced exactly how it is spelled.  Then again I have had people butcher the last name Copper too.

Yay, my meeting is over and I feel my day getting better now.

ETA: I'm dumb and can't spell.

• Hi guys! This is a drive-by to say hello and we are having a great vacation!!

BYE!! :)
• I went from a semi-hard name to pronounce to an AWESOME last name.  Easy to pronounce and fun to make jokes with.

• Gurl, I also will be going from a common last name to a very European last name that is frequently mispronounced. And when it is mispronounced, it sounds like something out of Nazi Germany, which pisses FI off like crazy. All I want to do right now is shut my office door and take a little nap.

• I'm going from one unpronouncable French last name to another unpronouncable French last name.  My SN isn't my actual last name (duh, Liz!)

Both my and FI's last names get butchered all of the time from people outside of South Louisiana and telephone solicitors.
• It's awesome, Liz!  So much more awesome now that he's smiling and laughing at us.  How are you?

Eff that noise, A.  I would do as little as possible.  I don't even think I would be able to really work at this point.

• I went from a long and often misspelled last name to a short and often misspelled and mispronounced last name.  At least it's shorter.
• Ah French.  I wish I had a French last name.  But then again I'm super excited (at least right now) to go back to Frech class. But I'm rusty as hell after being away from it all summer.
Ok, I caught up.  All that name stuff is why I'm keeping mine.  My maiden name is just who I am.  Maybe if I had gotten married younger, it would have been different, but after nearly 34 years, this one sticks.  Plus I like my nickname.
Posted by EaglesBride2012
I was thrilled to change my name, mainly because I was sick of the nicknames.  Because my last name is a super-popular Portuguese last name, but nobody had really been familiar with it until a certain singer became popular, everyone asked me if I was related to her.  People in college remember me primarily as her first name, not my own.  I was kind of relieved when I got married got a nondescript, super-common last name.

• Hello, hello. I need to get up and pack soon, I'm headed home for a long weekend of funerals and weddings. Sheesh. I'm not at all used to my married name yet. I haven't changed it legally yet because I don't want it to affect anything with my enrollment in school. But i did change it on Facebook. So weird. I'm one of those people that won't leave the house without a full face of makeup. I love doing makeup.
• Good job Rach!  Eags, I contemplated keeping mine, but it meant more to my H to change it, then it did to me to keep it.

It didn't take me very long to get used to my new name.

I wasn't working when I changed it, so I didn't have to deal with it at work, but overall, people adjusted to it well. On my FB, I kept my name as Jessica Maiden Married for about a year, and then I finally changed it to Jessica Married.

Every now and then, a friend will jokingly call me by my married name and it sounds really strange.

ETA: The most frustrating thing about my maiden and married name is that nobody can spell either. With my maiden, everyone wanted to add an extra letter, and on my new name, everyone leaves a letter out.
