I'll start!

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago? Yes I went in November

How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? My first experience was awful, I went to Davids Bridal and nothing the consultant brought looked good on me or was what I wanted. I would never go back there.

Who did you bring with you? My Mom and Sister came with me the first time, then 2 of my bridesmaids came along when I actually purchased the gown.

Did you find your dress? Sure did! Its a Maggie Sottero and I can not wait until it comes in so I can put it on again

How many did you have to try on before you found the one? I tried on about 12 at Davids Bridal and then about 5 at the salon I purchased my dress from.

Here are my answers...

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago? I went dress shopping 3 times so far; 1st time in Sept; Oct and just recently right before the holidays

How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? The first store we went to I also didn't have the best time - it was a boutique and i felt smothered haha The 2nd store one of my friends recommended and I really loved it & thoughts i found THE dress however it was the last store that my mom convinced me to go look in that i finally agreed to my gorgeous gown!

Who did you bring with you? The 1st store I went with my mom, younger sister and my grandmom (who flew all the way from overseas to see me try on dresses it really made it special) The 2nd store I went on by myself as a last minute idea; the 3rd & final store I took my mom and will offer for my bridesmaid to see it when we go look at their dresses as well.

Did you find your dress? Yes It is a beautiful Kitty Chen fit & flare gown w/ sweetheart neckline and strapless - i absolutely looooove it and can not wait to get it!

How many did you have to try on before you found the one? I def tried on about 15 gowns in total across all 3 stores and loved this one the most - i was crying when i had it on me and didnt want to take it off haha

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago? I went to an Alfred Angelo store back in August so I could get it done before school started up
How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? My experience was a dream. We were lucky to be able to go on a weekday, and were the only ones in the store. The consultant had me rate each dress 1-10 to tease out what I really wanted and was most comfortable with. My cousin ended up pulling the dress I bought; I wasn't sure dropped waist would work with my hips, but she thought it would and she was right!
Who did you bring with you? My mom, FMIL, best friend/MOH, and cousin/BM
Did you find your dress? Yes! I was glad, because it was tricky to get the whole crew together and they all wanted to be there when I purchased.
How many did you have to try on before you found the one? Only about 6. I finished the appointment early but once I found it there was no point in trying any more
Pictures? Didn't come out great, but here's one of the okay ones. Excuse the goofy look on my face, FMIL is big on candids

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago? I went dress shopping the second weekend of September.

How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? I went to 2 stores - Davids Bridal and a shop in New Hampshire called Marry & Tux. I went to these because they carry plus size samples (I wanted to be able to try everything on). I had a surprisingly great experience at the David's in Nashua, NH. Went there first and found a great dress at a good price. No pressure to buy on the spot. I held off on buying because I had another appointment at the other store. Found some beautiful dresses there, but they were much more expensive and a bit too elaborate for my wedding. I ended up going back to David's to buy the dress I loved there.

Who did you bring with you? I brought my mother, MOH, my future mother in law, and a good friend of mine. (I'm not having bridesmaids, just my MOH who is my cousin)

Did you find your dress? Yes! Lightweight chiffon halter dress from David's. Price was right too - - it was $450 on sale! I ordered it that day and it arrived less than 4 weeks later. We also ordered my MOH's dress, which we found that day as well.

How many did you have to try on before you found the one? I think I tried on 10 dresses at David's and maybe about 4 or 5 at Marry & Tux.

Pictures? My MOH took pictures, but never sent them to me!

- Yes at the end of the Novemeber

How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell?

- It was great. I made an appointement to have my bridesmaids pick out their dresses, I had no intention of trying on dresses yet, but my BM and mother insisted I did and ended up finding the one that day.

Who did you bring with you?

- I had my MOH, BM and mother with me

Did you find your dress?

- Yes! Its perfect, it's by davids bridal, strapless with a corset top and it has bling, I love it!

How many did you have to try on before you found the one?

- I tried on about 6 dresses or so, the last one i tried was the one, i stopped there

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago?

Yes. I went one weekend in August and one in September.
How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell?

I went to 7 stores total. The first weekend I did not like the shops. The first boutique I went to tried to tell me all the dresses I tried on were their private collection. It was totally sketchy because I knew the one dress was an Allure since I saw it in Brides magazine and the shop's website listed Allure as one of their designers. Alfred Angelo was also bad. I had an appointment and they made me wait 40 minutes after my appointment because they didn't have any available consultants even though they called to confirm my appointment 15 minutes before I arrived.
Who did you bring with you?

I brought my mom both weekends and the first weekend my one bridesmaid and the second weekend my other two bridesmaids.
Did you find your dress?

I actually found my dress at the first shop but it was a really dingy ivory and I thought the applique looked like a snowflake so I didn't love it at first. I tried it on again at every salon that had it and I fell in love. I ended up getting it for over $500 cheaper than the first salon. It was completely not what I expected although I liked it when I saw it in magazines I just hadn't thought it was very me. I originally went in looking for the Adorae by Sottero and Midgely because I was convinced I wanted a fit and flare. I ended up buying the Allure 8862 which is an organza ballgown and I love it!
How many did you have to try on before you found the one?

My dress was the third dress I tried on, but my mom and I wanted to look more and find a really nice boutique to buy from so I probably tried on about 30 different dresses.

How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? It was a wonderful experience at a small local bridal gown outlet store. They are the sister store to the main bridal salon in town and sell all the discontinued dresses as is.
Who did you bring with you? My two sisters, FMIL, FSIL and step-mom
Did you find your dress? Yes!
How many did you have to try on before you found the one? It was the second dress I tried but I tried on about 5 or 6 total before going back to it.

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago? Yes! I went dress shopping once and only once on 4th of July weekend.
How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? I had an amazing experience. I went to David's. I felt like I was the only one in the store (I believe there was one other bride..). The place was empty. My best piece of advice for any new bride would be - go on 4th of July weekend!

Who did you bring with you? My mom, grandmother, two cousins (MOH & BM), and flowergirl
Did you find your dress? YES! I love it.
How many did you have to try on before you found the one? About 20-25 I think! My dress was the last one I tried on. The consultant pulled it out of the back room. It was a discontinued style and very wrinkled!

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago?
I went to this really sketchy spot with a friend in maybe June? I tried on 3 dresses that made me look like a giant marshmallow. I went yesterday to a section of the city that has tons of bridal boutiues and tried on dresses in three of them.

How was your experience? Overall, pretty good. The salespeople weren't too pushy and were willing to trot out many dresses.

Have an interesting story to tell? Not from yesterday

Who did you bring with you? My dad's partner

Did you find your dress? Yes, but I have to go back on Sunday/Monday to order it

How many did you have to try on before you found the one? Tons- maybe 7 at each place, for a total of 20ish?

Pictures? The place where I found the one I want doesn't allow pictures

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago? I am extraordinarily lucky - my uncle is a partner with a formalwear/bridal manufacturer and my mom works there as well, so I didn't have to go dress shopping. In July, I picked things I liked from the catalogue and she was able to bring them home a few at a time.
How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? It was a lot of fun - very relaxed and laid back.

Who did you bring with you? It was just my mom and my MOH at my house.
Did you find your dress? Yep!
How many did you have to try on before you found the one? I tried on one dress, then the 2nd dress was the one. I tried on one afterwards (since I had 3 at home), but the one was the one!

Have you gone dress shopping yet? Yes. How long ago? October 2011. My original wedding date was supposed to be 9/1/12.

How was your experience? Great! I found the best salon on my first try.

Have an interesting story to tell? The owner helped me choose my gown and gave me a fabulous price on a Reem Acra which I NEVER thought I would purchase. I went during the week and had the whole salon to myself. I tried on probably 12 gowns or so. It was awesome.

Who did you bring with you? Just my Mom and she was quite vocal about how I looked in each gown. LOL!

Did you find your dress? Yes.

How many did you have to try on before you found the one? 12

Pictures? No pics of me yet in the gown. The gown is being stored by the salon so I won't have pics until my fittings. However, below is a pic of the dress on the model. Ignore the bolero jacket. I did not purchase that.

How was your experience? Really good! Stress free, fun!

Have an interesting story to tell? The consultant brought me the dress just to try the style on because I originally wanted a big poofy ball gown. I didn't like the dress on the hanger but once I tried it on I was instantely in love!

Who did you bring with you? Just my mom the first time, then friends!

Did you find your dress? Yes I did!

How many did you have to try on before you found the one? Probably 2 or 3

I went twice - once a couple months after we got engaged to David's (Jan 2011) just to try on styles.Then I went this past September and found the dress!

How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell?
My experience at both salons was great. I got personal attention at David's (weekday!) and loved the salon I purchased my dress at.

Who did you bring with you?
First time - my sister (MOH) and one BM. Second time - just my sister (MOH)

Did you find your dress?
YES!!

How many did you have to try on before you found the one?

I probably tried on 7 at David's and then another 7-10 at the second salon (although my dress is the second one I tried on there)
Pictures? Well my sister has pics of me in it on her camera, but it's the Maggie Sottero Adorae

I can't wait for it to come in!!

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago? Yes! I think we went in August or September, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing when my mom and sisters were in town.
How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? I had a good experience. I did a lot of research beforehand and went to a salon that carried a lot of the styles that I liked.
Who did you bring with you? My mom and two older sisters, who are also both my matrons of honor.
Did you find your dress? Yes! I picked out a dress, and later figured out it is the same dress that my photographer's wife wore in her wedding. She is letting me borrow it for free!
How many did you have to try on before you found the one? 9

My experience was ok i guess I too went to davids bridal gave them the list of my favorites from my online searches and they didnt have all the dresses in the store so I was a little bummed about that. the lady brought over my dresses but not the one I was really looking forward to trying on beause It was the 2nd dress I saw myself in (first one they no longer sold

) I asked her where the dress was and she said she forgot it. (I was ready to leave bc I couldnt make any decisions w out trying on this particular dress)

Yes I bought my dress about two weeks ago at David's Bridal. I only had my mom and my 1 year old son. It's actually a funny story, my fiancee and I got engaged about 2 1/2 years ago, and then had a baby, so we recently decided to get married in a courthouse this March and then have a reception in August when his grandparents are in town. So I want to wear a real wedding dress for both and the dress I had been drooling over since he proposed went on clearance for 99 and it's Vera Wang!! So my mom and I went and they only had one left in 2 sizes too big, but the saleswoman said they run small so I tried it on and it fit like a glove and I loved it. I tried on a few others but kept going back to the Vera. It was my little wedding miracle lol

How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? The overall experience was good. I went to two salons, and the first salon REALLY helped. I am getting married on a beach, and I wanted to try on things I thought I should be wearing. She put me in the dresses I asked for, realized it wasn't working, and put me in something that was so perfect it made us cry!
Who did you bring with you? Mom, FMIL, Sister, Best friend

Did you find your dress? Of course I did!
How many did you have to try on before you found the one? Maybe 10? I tried on a few after, went to a second salon, and went home. Couldn't stop thinking about it, so now it's mine!

First I went to Davids Bridal in Rockville, MD and had an aweful experence. Then another day I went to a bridal botque in Bethesda, MD and found a dress that I loved and I went to the Macy's Bridal Salon in Tysons coner (cant remember the name) and found another dress that I loved. I didn;t buy anything that day. Then my MOH convinced me to go to a different David's bridal (in Springfield VA) and it was a completly different experence from the other Davids. Apparently each Davids has there own buyer and they all carry the standard Davids Bridal dresses but they also carry dresses that are not online.

Who did you bring with you?

My mom and MOH

Did you find your dress?

YES!!!

How many did you have to try on before you found the one?

I'm not sure. I went to 4 places... maybe about 20???

Have you gone dress shopping yet? How long ago? I went back in May...Very early, but I thought my wedding was going to be earlier. Hopefully it still fits

How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? no stories...just a great experience! Went to a shop called Lovely Bridal in LA, and it was very pleasant, even if the air con wasnt working.

How was your experience? No interesting stories. We just went to 2 different places with lunch in between. It was fun to try on all sorts of different dresses!
Who did you bring with you? My mom, 2 maids of honor & a bridesmaid.
Did you find your dress? I did, yay!
How many did you have to try on before you found the one? Maybe 10 or 12. I was between a very sexy "red carpet" like dress and the one I bought. I just knew my FI would love the one I bought the most. More classic and traditional with a little twist.
Pictures?

The belt totally changed the dress and I absolutely loved it! The belt will be longer on my dress so it goes all the way around and will be sewn completely to the dress during alterations. I can't wait for it to come in!!

How long ago? Started in November & ended in January
How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell? Overall my experiences were good. I'm a little different in that I went to 9 different stores before I found the dress. I tend to not like to make decisions and the dress is a big one (especially for the price)! Towards the end, I kind of just wanted to find a dress to cross it off my to-do list...I got sick of running around to all these different salons.
Who did you bring with you? Mom and future MIL to some (she lives 4 hours away but glad she was able to go to a few stores with me)

Did you find your dress? Yeppers! (it just took awhile)
How many did you have to try on before you found the one? A lot! I went to 9 different stores in total, so probably around 90 dresses (and trust me...they do start to look the same after awhile). I started at David's Bridal to get a sense of what style I want, but then after the 2nd store, realized I wanted something lightweight. I basically tried on every "destination" wedding dress at the salons I went to, but they didn't really have big selections. I found some dresses where I liked one aspect, but there were little things I didn't like about each one. I just couldn't justify spending tons of money on a dress where I have to make all these changes in order to like it. I knew what I was looking for the whole time, it was just a matter of finding it. Eventually I did & it was such a relief!

Yep, I went back in September while I was home

How was your experience? Have an interesting story to tell?
The experience overall was fun and good. The first bridal salon I went to wasn't a very pleasant experience. The people working there were very snoody and weird and I was like OH great, is this how it's going to be EVERYWHERE? and then all of the other places were AMAZING and I had narrowed my dress down to 3 and then my mom suggested we go to ONE more place and THAT is where I found THE dress.
I also realized that what I thought I wanted, I actually didn't like at all

Who did you bring with you?My mom and Aunt on one day and then my grandmother, dad and step mom the next day to see the dresses I had picked out
Did you find your dress?Yes. It was a 3 day ordeal. I had it narrowed to 3. I couldn't make a decision so a friend of my mother's suggested we go to one more place and that is where I found it!
How many did you have to try on before you found the one? around 20-25 ... I think

It's COMPLETELY different from what I originally wanted and excuse all the clips ! Also there are crystal buttons that go all the way down the back, you can't really see them in the photo
