Morning

'Sup?

I was going to go into work early and then I got caught up reading the news about the shooting on my phone once I woke up and now I dont give a shite about getting to leave early (agreement we have at work for fridays now). Im just wicked bummed out now that people can be so fucking horrendous.

What does everyone have planned this weekend? We are gonna be pretty broke this weekend so I have a feeling a lot of cleaning and bath taking is in my future. Luckily I have a whole jar of bath bombs and bubble bars left over from christmas so Im all set for a good time.

Re: Morning

  • Morning Nebb and everyone.

The news about the shooting is beyond sad. I wonder if there was a motive or it was random? There was a 9 year old girl killed. I'm not even sure why a 9 year old was at a midnight showing of a rated R movie but I guess that's besides the point.

When I was reading it, I kept thinking what I would do in that situation. Would I hide under a seat or would I run? It's so scary.

  • Morning. That shooting is absolutely horrendous. Those poor people. I just don't get what goes through a person's mind when they do something like that. I'm still at home waiting to leave for my dermatologist appointment. It's weird not being at work yet. This weekend we will be staining our deck, so long as the weather isn't a giant assshole.

From what I gather he was walking around in the smoke (that he set off) randomly shooting people, so I dont know how easily you could have hid, you know? Fuckhead shows up totally geared up with a bulletproof vest, gas mask, smoke bomb, etc and does that? Just disgusting.
  • Morning. I went to dinner with some friends last night and had a few too many beers. I'm not really hungover, I'm just tired since we didn't get in until around midnight. Oh and my phone died while we were out, so when I plugged it in to recharge while I was sleeping, I forgot to turn it on. I'm lucky I woke up on time, only 3 minutes after my alarm should have gone off.

I'm so glad it's Friday. I'm going to take a gloriously long nap when I get home this afternoon.

And I'm still getting caught up on the CO shooting story. I honestly don't know what I'd do in that type of situation. So sad.

My burn is in the point where my face has finally peeled completely but my scalp is still itchy as all get out. Its just itchy around the part and areas that were visible, and I know its just cause the skin is peeling, but I am still paranoid that i must have lice. Ive had Adam check my hair twice now just to be sure.
  • I bet your scalp starts to peel soon. That sucks your sunburn got that bad.

It has here and there, ive only picked out a few little pieces from my hair when ive combed it in the morning, i have been trying really hard to scratch it in such a way that it wont make it peel off during the day so I dont look like some kind of dandruff freak at work. I guess the strange upside though is my forehead is softer than I can remember it being in AGES, best (worst) facial ever.
  • Edie- Pregnancy wise, I feel great. Just big. I'm just super sick right now. I have a really sore throat and lost my voice a few days ago and it hasn't come back. I can't sleep at night because of coughing so much. It's just a virus though so I have to let it run its course.
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • Well, I went to urgent care and they gave me the z pack but that doesn't make any sense because I don't have a bacterial infection so I'm not taking it. I can take some Robitussin but that doesn't do shhit.
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • So now I just read that a victim in the shooting was 3 months old. Who the fuuck takes a 3 month old to the movies, let alone a midnight showing of a movie?

  • Morning.

I feel really terrible for the families of the shooting victims.  I hate to think that the parents of those young children will have to live with the thought of their child dying/being injured because they went to a early morning rated R movie, a move that's already questionable with young children.  Terrible.

Also, I really think it's strange and kind of inappropriate that the news would mention that Aurora is about 13 miles from Littleton (Columbine HS).  It's been 13 years since then.
  • Stupid mobile ate the post i made 30 minutes ago.

As horrifying as the shooting was I find it sad that stuff like this is no longer surprising. I am sort of surprised that the shooter seems to have just surrendered. Usually these things seem to end in suicide.

I had a similar wtf moment about a 6 year old being there but a 3 month old trumps that. Of course no one should ever suspect that a movie theater is going to turn into a massacre but why would you bring any small child to a midnight showing of any movie?

I had my hair trial last night so I had to spend an inordinate amount of time in the shower this morning un-teasing my hair. I felt like a drag queen when I took all the pins out last night, my hair was massive.

I'll never forget that. A coworker went to Columbine, and knew someone who was killed.

They mention it because it's so close geographically and to add more drama. As if the story isn't dramatic enough already.

Yup, exactly. I'm sure one of the first things they looked up was how far it was from Columbine. <div>

  • Had to come in early again today but it was extra hard to pull myself out of bed and look halfway human this morning with a migraine.  Fun times.  I am at a barely functioning level at the moment.  I have a lady doc appointment in a few and I'm curious as to whether they can give torredol injections like my PCP does for really bad migraines.  I have a full day ahead and right now I can tell you it ain't pleasant.  I feel like I'm in such a fog.

Well technically it was a terror attack. Just most likely doesn't belong to a group. I just heard that the shooter had a gun stashed in the theater. So we know that he planned this out. He also came in through the exit door.

    What?
  • Mehg, all of mine have been pretty awkward.  I remember being at school and having horrible stomach aches and a doc just busted in and gave me my first exam, not explaining anything and looked at me completely horrified when afterwards I mentioned that I had never had an exam like that before.  Needless to say I'm scarred.  Oh, and my old PCP from awhile ago was so awful at it, I mean terrible.  She kept making awkward comments and acted like she had never seen a vajay before and proceeded to ask me if I ever had this type of exam done since I was being "tense."  Um, go screw.  In the end I was told to come back in because she didn't do it right.  Then I went to a OB/GYN and it was ok.  Now I'm going to a new one and that same anxiety is back lol.

That might have been TMI but whatevs.

Maybe it's because FI is former Intel, and is studying for his Masters in the subject, and the whole post 9-11 thing, but my first thoughts tend to Islamic Terror Groups. Then I hit the news stations to get the "scoop". Even though all of the breathless speculation bugs the craap out of me. The threat is there though. You'd be shocked at how many people are under watch in this country, not just random people, but people with ties to groups...Islamic and not.

Either way, someone who knows this monster surely saw some warning signs. Id be shocked if there weren't any.
  • I went to see a PCP yesterday for the first time in well over 10 years. I was pleasantly surprised at how decent his bedside manner was and that the exam wasn't uncomfortable. He did ask if I had a gyno so he skipped the more intrusive parts of the exam.

    Good luck today lbarr.
