More TK/TN/TB Privacy Invasion

http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/64952807.aspx

I don't think it works on here yet, but anyone who posts on TN/TB is affected by it.  Basically anyone can click on your profile and then FB Like, Twitter Like, and Google Plus like your profile, thus showing your real name.

I'm posting it here too because a lot of you are on TN/TB too and SOMETIMES they will actually pay attention to the masses when they are pissed.

If this shiit isn't fixed then I'm really done with the sites.  I'm so sick of the fact that they can't respect anyone's privacy or the fact that 90% of the posters here don't want their TK/TN/TB life linked to their real life in any way shape or form.

WHo do they think they are?  I have to be extremely careful with FB because of my profession and *I* have EVERY RIGHT to control what happens on my page.

Knot/Bump/Nest you better get your SH*T together.

*I've posted on TB this week so I'm sure my info is out there.

Umm yeah.  I'm not cool with this.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Yeah that better not come over here.
  • Okay. beach's profile is private.  I could not see the like buttons.   Aleigh, yours was not and I could see the like buttons.

  • BUT, a member shouldn't HAVE to set her profile to private in order to protect her FB account.  IT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING AT ALL!  DO YOU HEAR ME, KNOT GODS?

  • I'm not supposed to have my profile set to private.  I guess that settles my decision to avoid posting on TN/TB.

This topic came up recently, and I could have sworn that the higher ups decided not to go this route.  I guess they changed their minds again.  :(
  • You have to to click on a TN/TB profile.  I logged out and clicked on my profile through TN and could see the buttons.  I just don't think it's hit TK yet.

Well that's not fair.  Just because you help them out doesn't mean you shouldn't get to keep your private info, you know, PRIVATE.  You are not their employee so they should have ZERO control over stuff like this.

<div>I agree.  DIdn't they get the fucking hint after the uproar a few weeks ago about linking to FB?  It's such bullshit, and seriously just proves to me even more that they are trying to drive off all the regs so they can push it to be a puppies and rainbows place to make more money.</div>

Okay, I can only see Mica's I can't see anyone else's who is private.
  • beach you have a PM'

It seems that on here only publics you can see the buttons.  that is not the case on the TN/TB.

  • I'm staying off TN/TB.  And eff it, I'm making my profile private.  People can see my bio if they want to see "more."  If they want to fire me, I'll happily step down from my volunteer position.

    Thanks Lynda, I appreciate it.

Yeah, so basically there is no way to avoid it on TN?TB right now because I have the same privacy settings over there and apparently it doesn't matter.  It's such bullshit.  I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they attempt to bring it here too.

And that is BS.  NO ONE should be required to have thier personal FB page viewable at any time in order to post on a freaking message board.

  • I do want to do a little test though.    When you hit "like" what does it do?  Not that I want anyone to be able to 'like' me, but I'm curious to see how much access they have on my page.

My page is mostly friends only with a few things that are friends of friends.  I might have to lock down my FB even more.

So now I have to constantly log on and off FB to protect my privacy?  How the eff do they think it's ok to just share our info with Facebook?  And how do you "agree to give Facebook access?"  Or really how do you decline it?  Last time I checked Mark Zuckerberg didn't put his personal cell number on his profile to call.
