AK, FWIW, I didn't take this as him being controlling or as a huge red flag, I just thought he was being a giant IDIOT. It didn't to me sound like a remark of "you must be my property," more that he thought this was how it was done formally and was being totally fuckingstupid thinking that it would make ANY sense at all for you to change to work e-mail or revert to 100 years ago and always be addressed socially as Mrs. Hisname. I'd be more worried about his IQ than about him being too controlling, but at least it sounds like he's starting using a couple brain cells again this morning.

Yesyesyes. This is more of what I was thinking too. I've been in relationships with terribly controlling men before, and I've helped friends out of relationships with abusive men before... and if I thought anything that was remotely close to that was going on, I'd be too busy moving out to post about it on an internet message board.

I felt bad when I came back online this morning and saw the turn that people's responses had taken. He's a little misdirected at times, but he's not <strong>that</strong> bad.

i was just thinking there was another thread AK posted wherein someone called her husband a douchebag (or thought he was acting like one) and eveyroen got all spun up. now mandy confirmed it and reminded me it was her. i agreed with her in that thread (no one else did) and i find it amusing that because the masses now think he's a DB, no one has an issue with it.
