I was in Ottawa and decided to try Poutine. For some reason, I was thinking I needed to try and pronounce it with a French accent, but not knowing what that would be, I said, I'd like the poo-tan. The waiter smiled at me so I immediately said, or is it poo-teen. And he said, poo-teen is just fine. So, get it, eat it, love it. Get home hours later and think about how I know a little Italian and my thought process was like this: Hmm, "poo-tan" sounds like the equivalent of puttana in Italian. Puttana in Italian means whore. Holy ***. I told the waiter I'd like a whore! No wonder he smiled like that at me. So polite though, he didn't laugh in my face!
    Posted by PennyPriddy
Is there any reason to think he knows Italian and would have known that?  I certainly didn't and would never know.  He probably just laughed at you because you were a silly American pronouncing poutine wrong.

Well, I agree wtih Nebb. I mean, it's probably hurtful to P2 to keep bringing it up, but were you around when she accused P2 of not really being married because she didn't have wedding pictures online? Well, she came in at the very end of FFF last week and said she stood by her statements. I had defended her previously and said that maybe she was taking some time away from E to think about things and cool off, but when she did that, I washed my hands of the whole thing. Her beef with P2 is way out of control.

DIdn't you say that you can't get good poutine west of Oshawa?  Whatever.

And Nugget, I'm gonna talk about men for a minute here - they really don't think like women do.  They really don't care about weddings all that much.  Is that an excuse?  No.  It's fact.  They also deal with conflicts much differently than women do.  H and his friends will tell each other what they actually think.  They might even have an argument about something.  Then they'll go for a beer and that's that.  It's never brought up again.  I don't get this.  I'm not like that.  But they are.  I know for a fact that at least one of H's friends "commented" on our wedding being on a Sunday.  This means that he probably ragged on H about it over beers.

Women don't do that.  Women gossip.  They run around behind each others backs and say all kinds of lovely things that they'd never actually say to your face.

Some people apparently prefer the women's way of doing it.  I, after working with men for many years now, prefer the guys way.

I also know that a lot of people in general aren't obsessive about calendars.  I'm not.  My friends know this.  And as bad as I am, I can plan a few weeks out for things.  My H cannot.  That is not his personality at all.  He calls his friends the night before and makes plans.  I tried to get him to invite his friends out tonight for drinks.  As of this morning, the only people confirmed are my friends.  His friends will let us know tonight.   That's the way they work.  I'm fine with this, and appreciative of the fact that they managed to RSVP for our wedding, even if they did do it the day the RSVPs were due and it happened via telephone.
This is a minor flame, but I do flame everybody in my post the other day who used the "well he's a guy, he probably forgot/didn't bother to look it up" excuse.  I hate when people do that.  He's a guy.  He's not an infant, or mentally disabled, or comatose.  Just because he has a penis dosen't mean that he's suddenly excused from basic courtesy like bothering to check the date of a wedding he's asked to be in sooner than 4 weeks prior.  Men aren't suddenly excused from being idiots because they're men.  It's a cop-out.   It's like women who use PMS as an excuse to act like a total bitchwhoar for 7 days out of the month.  Just because your vag is bleeding doesn't give you an excuse to act like a heifer.  I'm not talking about people who really DO have problems with PMS, but those who are all "I'm on my period, so I can act like a twatwaffle and my boyfriend/husband/fiance/family/friends will just have to deal with it because I'm on my peeeeeeriod!"
    Posted by NuggetBrain
While I completely understand what you are saying, and the validity and principle behind what you are saying, I still think guys are clueless and am not surprised that he just assumed your wedding was on a Saturday.  So I guess I'm guilty of the double standard.

If you asked me to be in your wedding on July 16 (for example), I would assume it was a Saturday.  Now once I actually wrote it in my calendar, I would see that is in fact a Friday, but none of the guys I know even use calendars, so again just not surprised.

Lala, it's on the last 2 or 3 pages. Of course, like a coward, she came in towards the end of the day after FFF had moved way down the page:

Actually, I think you mentioned that you only read the first 12 pages. READ MORE! The first 12 were nothing compared with her comments.

Edit: She starts posting towards the middle/bottom of page 16. And she's probably lurking now.
