[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Night thread. : OMG - you're seriously DRIVING from VA to TX?  How long are you going for?  That does not sound like a vacation.  If you make a side trip through Denver you could meet Fruit Loop (assuming Fruit Loop has arrived).

</div><div>Yeah we're driving. We'll be heading down on the 21st and coming back on the 28th, so about a week. I don't think detouring to Denver will be in the cards though. ::sad face::

  • We did the TX-DC road trip last year. It's a 24 hour drive. We drove it straight through, but we were with friends and there were plenty of drivers. It was a long drive, but we managed to stay entertained.
  • I love the picture, ski! So happy and fresh faced.

  • They're just a huge face palm family. Everything they do. And I feel like I can judge them because she is my sister haha
  • No, Pete is a girl, she just came first, Repeat (the boy) came 14 months and 3 days later.

I was pregnant for what seemed like 2 straight years!

<div>That would be a long drive. The longest car ride I've ever been in was 12 hours. </div>
  • Comcast is run by the devil. Trufax. If I never am required to use them again, I will be totally ok with it.

  • 24 hours in the car, not sure I could do that very well, although we will find out when we come down to pick the KAAMA boat.  I have tried very unsucessfully to talk H into getting one of his friends to make the trip with him.  Bonus to that trip is a cocktail with Petals!
  • If I were so broke that I didn't have the gas money to get to work, I would call EVERYONE I knew, ever, to get me to work.

The girl I mentioned before was mad that she didn't quality for emergency assistance, and my immediate thought was, "call your family and take them up on the odd-job offers!"

Apparently, she has applied for ONE job and is holding out to see if that works out before applying for anything else. It makes me want to scream, especially since she has a child, and she keeps saying she doesn't have any food.

But I guarantee you she has her cigarettes.
  • Wow MK.  Enjoy your "vacation".  Even if it doesn't include a detour to Denver :).

Time Warner is the worst.  Comcast is second in my opinion.  We had WOW before we left Cleveland and they were actually halfway decent.  I miss them.
  • We're definitely going to have to stop and sleep at some point. There's only two of us, and we'll probably have a couple of dogs with us. 24 hours straight through isn't happening.

  • Ski :) There is one weekend in Sept I'm going to be OOT and that better not be when you are coming.

MK - How's work going? Still enjoying it?

    Oh, definitely the devil.

The other day, H posted on FB about being happy that DirecTV came to install the satellite, and everyone was like, "YOU'RE GOING TO REGRET THAT WHEN A STORM COMES!!1!! YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH COMCAST"

No, we won't. First of all, we've had DTV for almost 2 years with minimal weather-related problems. Secondly, in the case that we lose connection, I guess we'll have to spend time with each other, watch a movie or find something else to do.

One of the people commenting happens to work with Comcast, and I seriously considered calling him yesterday to be like, "Your company is great right? Then get your asss over here and install my cable."
  • Is Dish any good? I find it kind of funny that a Dish salesman knocked on my door last night saying that Dish is less expensive and has better service. I turned him away politely, but now I'm wondering if I should grab his card and give him a call....

[QUOTE]Ski I like your new sig pic. You look so happy.  I think our next "vacation" is to TX for Christmas. I put vacation in quotes because we're driving, and well that's just hell. And we're visiting the IL's. I love them, but don't consider visiting them a vacation.

Maybe stop in Tennessee? What part of Texas are you going to?
  • Jess, I would be calling people too. I mean, how are you supposed to get gas money for work without working?? Stupid.

    No, not Dish. Go Direct.

They have <u>excellent</u> customer service, more channels, etc.

They made the appointment for 8-10am on Monday...they were here at 7:45 and done by 8:30.

I wanted to hug them for being so on-top of things.

</div><div>I'll talk with H and see if there's a fee for discontinuing TW. I've had so many issues and this is just the cherry on top.

  • Texas and Jess they're in the Texas City area between Houston and Galveston. I think we are planning on stopping in TN Jess. H figured out pretty much where the halfway point is. We might push it though to do like 16-18 hours the first day, so we have less on the 2nd day. We'll see.

  • The longest I've ever been in a car is like 18 hours.  A friend and I drove to New Orleans last spring.  We did it straight through and it wasn't too bad.

Honestly, I think the satelliete companies, Dish and Direct, have gotten a lot better especially with weather-related outages.

  • Jess and Aleigh, I must have my judgy pants on tonight to.  Working to provide for your family should come first, not crafts or cigs.

  • Holy crap that was delicious. Allen ate ALL of his side of the pizza. I was impressed. Now we're just waiting a few minutes before we head down to the pool.

Aleigh, my sister routinely calls our mother for money. The first thing she asks is if my sister is still smoking. Sis, of course, says yes. Mom says, no money until you stop smoking.

Some people might not think that's a good thing to do, but she (mom) refuses to fund her smoking habit, and she knows that's where it would go. She offers to buy certain things for sis, or staples, and sis says no because it's 'demeaning'.
  • MK, have fun. I always enjoy roadtrips with H. We have a good time.
  • Ooh.. ESPN has the Packers game on.  I know what I'm watching until BB comes on (and after, if it's not over yet).
  • Evening!

I am tired. FI's family has already drawn names for secret santa & I was able to finally book most of our hotels for our trip in Europe, we just have to find something for our 3rd & 4th nights in London (we have a hotel for a 1st, 2nd & 5th) so thats a huge load of my shoulders.

  • Snippy, I feel like your sister ensures that her mom knows if she gives her money that it would fund her smoking habit.
