talk to me?

Re: talk to me?

  • I don't think I could live without tv or movies either...but even more so the internet. I am such an information sponge...I would hate not being able to just look stuff up at my will (and yes, libraries used to fill that role, just not on my couch!)
  • I do get emotionally involved with characters on tv shows.
  • I wish we got HBO just for Game of Thrones.

Anyone else intrigued by that new show Awake? I think that's what it's called anyway.  It's the one about a guy who gets into an accident and creates an alternate reality for himself in his dreams.
In Response to Re: talk to me? : I'm the same way, with movies and books. I don't think people really understand (except you, maybe) what movies mean to me, the way they transport me to a new place. Whenever I watch a new movie, I spend the next few days replaying it in my head from start to finish, absorbing more and more of it each time. And with books, I pretend to be one of the characters. or just insert myself into the story and take over. And we all know that I get attached, and way too emotionally unbalanced when an author RUINS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER STUPID JEAN AUEL.

When I saw atonement, I couldnt stop thinking about it for days. I was totally gutted about it and so sad over it. As if they were real people that I knew and was grieving for.

Or when I was reading the final dark tower book and one of the characters died, I laid in bed and bawled my eyes out I was so upset by it. Its like they become your closest friends, you know them so intimately.

  • Nebb, I was alike that with PS I Love You. It's supposed to be this romantic chick flick and god it left me depressed for days. Also, the movie One Day really got to me. It was just heartbreaking.

I get really attached to my characters. I have a hard time killing them off. At least with my new series, I can kill them and bring them back to life if I wanted too. Well, in one form or another, anyway. I'm still depressed over killing a character in my very first book. But, it had to be done.

She's writing another book. I got overly excited about it...

I get emotional when books end. Especially when I REALLY like a book. I feel lost after I finish reading a really good book. I also bawled my eyes out when I read HP and some characters died.

  • I was like that with the dark tower, when I finished the 7th book i just felt empty and I couldnt imagine reading any other books cause that series was so consuming. I think I went nearly 2 weeks until I read anything else.
When I finished the Harry Potter books (for the first time...I have reread them many times since) I felt oddly empty, like I was wondering what I could have to look forward to being released. But then, The Hobbit is coming out this year, so I know it's going to be like that again.
    Posted by rhonwynv
<div>That's how I felt too. Then I found Twilight and got hooked (I know a lot of people on this board HATE Twilight, but I'm unapologetic about my love for Edward). I even read Twilight fanfiction now because I just can't let it go. For some reason I am resisting reading Hunger Games, partially because I don't want to finish another series and feel that feeling again. HAHA, I'm weird.</div>

Its also in one of the most dangerous cities in the state.  Bitch is high if she thinks im showing up.

I seem to be in the minority of loving the ending (of inside the tower, I dont know if that got added later or not???). It was so... HUGE. It just makes you thumb back in your mind over everything that happened and question if it happened because it had already happened. It was overwhelming for me.

  • I want to write a series that people get sucked into like that. I love series novels so I see myself writing a lot of them and want readers to hate having to put them down.

I get so attached to my characters that I can't handle stopping at just one book. I need to share more of their story and interact more with them. it can't be just one story.

I have a love hate relationships with series. So many become a let down 3/4 of the way through (looking at you again Auel, and Gabaldon) or they just take so damn long to come out. At the same time they give me even more time to bond with characters and get immersed in a story.

Tonk's death is the one that always stuck out for me in HP. I am sure I cried for Sirius but I think I was too WTF to go there when Dumbledore died.

Martin just made me assume early on that every character in Song of Ice and Fire dies. There was one character that he makes you think is dead briefly that made me swear never to touch his books again. Luckily I skimmed ahead and saw it was not true.

  • She seriously told people to bring whoever they wanted?  Why would you want strangers at your baby shower?  Or is it more of a party/celebration than a shower?  I guess I could understand a tiny bit if she was just excited and it wasn't a present giving thing, but still.  I don't get that.

Sesh, I really admire anyone who can just create a whole new world or person that seems so real that it touches you or makes you think on a whole new level.  I have an idea for a book that I'd like to write one day, but so far it's just an idea.  When I think about where to begin, I get overwhelmed.  I think it takes enormous talent to truly be a writer.  Its more than just words; I think it's the creativity and vision that really makes a novel great.
