I had some almonds at lunch for the first time in years.... and shortly after I felt like I was going to die. I was burning up sweating even though the AC in the car was on full blast and my skin felt like it was going to burn off.

The same thing happens when I eat bananas. Do they have something in common? Magnesium or Potassium maybe?

Hmm. I'm not sure. I'm allergic to bananas (feels like my throat is closing), but not to almonds.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oral_allergy_syndrome

Read the article above. Maybe it's because I always eat toasted almonds, not raw. Did you eat raw almonds today? Darn allergies.

Lacey- I'm not sure. I've never had my throat or anything close up.

When I had that weird pain that they never figured out what it was, my GI doctor mentioned a gluten allergy that I may not be aware of.

I don't know.. I've had a bad reaction to magnesium in a supplement once, bananas, eggs, and now almonds. Sheesh.

You would think I would be able to lose weight from all of this, but it's the healthier snacks that I can't eat. I can't win.

A coworker brought cakeballs today - red velvet with milk chocolate, and chocolate covered with white chocolate. Yum. I love the holiday snacks.... my waistline, not so much :(

LOL. I have received 10 pounds of chocolate this year, I swear. I've received a 14 oz. box of really nice chocolates from Germany, a handpicked assortment box from Candy Haven (thankfully it was not as big as the box last year), a jumbo bag of Kit Kats, a container of chocolate covered peanuts, 50 square pieces of Ghirardelli bag, a 10 piece chocolate box, a chocolate advent calendar and a jumbo Hersheys' bar with almonds.

I know this came up before... but how exactly do you make the cakeballs???

Chocolate covered with white chocolate.... uh, yum!! I may have to get creative this year if I can't find my red velvet.

I've always wanted to do lemon or strawberry ones, but I'm always so sick of doing them after Christmas that I don't feel like it for Easter or other spring events that they would be most appropriate for.

Giselle - here is the website with the recipe, but you can use any kind of cake and icing. They are super easy to make, just very time consuming.

Have you tried cutting gluten out of your diet to see if you feel any better? My friend is allergic to gluten. They make cook books to help keep your diet gluten free.

I know what you mean about healthy snacks, though. I'm allergic to so much stuff - and it's all healthy stuff. (Except for ice cream).

Lacey - I haven't tried cutting it out (even though I should) because I have felt completely 100% fine since then except for those few foods. It's weird.

Plus, I reaaally don't want to be "that person" who has to have the special meal.

I completely understand! DH and I get together with three other couples once a month for dinner and board games (nerdy, I know). Each month it's hosted at a different couples' house. I am always "that person", because I cannot have a lot of dairy. It's okay in moderation, but one friend is a fabulous cook and she uses heavy cream a lot - um, yeah. Can't do it.

right now i'm going to B&M about the alterations lady at Davids Bridal in Frisco...it took me 37 minutes (not that i was counting) to even figure out if my dress was ready for pick up...not because she put me on hold...not because she couldn't find my dress...but because she couldn't understand english....

so aggravating...it wasn't even there for alterations...it was a spot check on the whole dress because it was coming "off the floor"....was supposedly going to be done on the 10th...and they were going to call...they never called...and it's been 10 days after said date. i call and it's been ready for 12 days!

    ....grrrr at bad customer service.

Welp, my attempt at cake balls lasted a whole 5 minutes. I burned the candy coating. I blame John Cusack being on my TV and distracting me

We had Peter Pan rehearsals all day, so I'm just now getting here!

Christmas - I'm actually very much feeling the Christmas spirit this year, but I understand what you're all saying, I've been there is years past.

Food allergies - I have no food allergies that I'm aware of, but when we were in Hawaii, I had an allergic reaction after dinner one night. My face got really hot when we were driving home and the heat was moving down my arms. When we got to the cottage, I realized that I was all red on my face, neck, chest, arms and back. And splotchy in some places. But not raised or bumpy or itchy. It went away with Benadryl, but it was so weird and totally freaked Courts out.

Other B&Ms - I STILL haven't started Christmas shopping! I think I'm officially screwed at this point. Also, I STILL don't have my BC. They never answered their phones on Friday or Saturday, and I didn't have time to go by today. I guess I'll try again tomorrow. :/
