Do you wear your ring around the clock?

Or do you take it off to sleep....shower....exercise?

Re: Do you wear your ring around the clock?

  • I take mine off when I'm sleeping, cleaning with chemicals, washing dishes, or taking a shower.

My mom thinks I'm crazy for not sleeping with it on, but it snags on the sheets and scrapes FI if I'm not careful.
  • As soon as I get home from work, I take all my jewelry& work clothes off.  I immediately put sweats on.  So when I'm around the house I don't wear my e-ring.  If I don't leave the house I may not wear it the entire day.

  • I take it off to shower because soap and shampoo leave a film on the diamond. I also take it off if I'm doing something where my hands are really dirty (making burgers, gardening) and I feel like I'm going to get gross stuff in the little nooks and crannies, and I'd take it off if I were using harsh chemicals.

    But swimming, exercising, sleeping...it's on.
  • I wear mine all day every day.  It was my grandmother's and she also never took it off.  That ring has been in the ocean, dunked in cleaning fluids, and has personally seen the inside of many Thanksgiving turkeys.

After 60 years, the ring is beautiful.
  • I have mine on except when I'm showering. That's the only time I ever take it off.

  • I wear mine for everything except for cooking (if I'm handling meat), cleaning, and work (nursing, the diamond snags right through the gloves).

  • I wear mine unless I'm using harsh chemicals w/o gloves or working with food like chop meat that can get in the crevices.  But I shower, sleep, exercise, do everything else with it on.

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
  • All day, everyday.

Although I did have a little adjustment period when I wasn't drying my hands off throughly and my finger got chapped. Learned my lesson, and now, all better :)

  • I wear mine all day everyday!  It never comes off my finger!  I figure if it gets dirty I can go get it cleaned!
  • I work with cars, both in school and at my job, so mine is on a chain (actually, his dog tag chain!) around my neck. It's easier, and our parents don't know, so it keeps it secret. Once I move to college it'll probably be on when I'm not elbow-deep in an engine!
  • I don't wear mine at home ever.  Having worked in jewelry stores, I've seen what can happen when you wear it all the time and it's not something I'm willing to do.  H knows we're married, and he appreciates that I take really good care of the ring. :)
  • I only really take mine off to shower or when I'm going to yoga class. Also sometimes when I'm cleaning depending on what kind of cleaning it is.

  • I take mine off to exercise, cook (if it's messy), shower and sleep.

My exercise is riding my horse, and it means a lot of dirt and sometimes being thrown several feet where if my ring fell off it'd be a goner.

  • I rarely take my rings off.  I really only take them off when cooking with messy foods.

Of course not; I wear it around my finger. ;-)

I only take mine off to knead dough, or if I'm working with something that could stain (it's a pearl, so I don't know if it actually could get stained, but I'm not taking any chances).
  • I wear mine any time I leave the house, or if FI's coming over 'cause he teasingly gives me crap about it if it's not on.  If I don't have my make-up on, the ring's probably not on, either.

    I also dito this.

Sometimes I don't wear it out of the house.  If we're going hiking/camping/kayaking - it's at home.  If I'm just running out to the grocery store for something to pack for lunch the next day, I may or may not put it on.  FI and I have talked about it, it doesn't bother him that I don't wear it all the time.
  • I don't take it off, ever (except once when I was kneeding dough).  I feel like I'm likely to lose it/misplace it if I take it off every time I shower, cook, etc.  It has some dings in it already, but who cares?

What have you seen happen if it is worn all the time?  Are you talking about the indent on the skin?

I wear mine all the time except in the shower, baking, or if there are going to be harsh chemicals.
  • I wear mine all the time, except for messy cooking.

I'm scared I'll lose it if I keep taking it off!
  • I only take it off when I'm in the shower (nervous about the drain), lifting weights (possibility of scratching), or doing something messy with my hands, like gardening or baking.

  • I wear mine all the time except when I do dishes or shower.  I even sleep in it.  Last night I took it off to shower and forgot to put it back on when I got in bed.  My FI grabbed my hand and got a little upset that it wasnt on my finger.  :)   He wants me to wear it all the time, he's such a girl, LOL.

I take it off for showering, putting makeup & hair stuff on, cleaning, cooking, sleeping, etc. I always put it in its nice wood box on my nightstand - so I'm not gonna lose it.

I try to protect it as much as I can, so it stays sparkly. I don't have a cleaner, but I windex it when I can.

  •   I  don't wear mine to work.  I'm a nurse and it gets caught on the gloves and tears them which is annyoing. On the four days I have off though I don't take it off.

  • I take mine off whenever water is involved... Shower, dishes/cleaning, swimming.  10 days after getting engaged I went on a pontoon boat ride ... fully clothed, cooler weather, NO intention of getting IN the water, so I didn't think twice about keeping my ring on.  Till the idiot driver of the boat hit the wake of another boat and I got drenched as the wave came over the front of our boat.  Thank God I happened to be holding my left hand in my right hand, because my ring came FLYING off when the wave hit me.      Other than that, I wear it all the time.
  • I wear mine except when I sleep, shower, do dishes, garden or clean with chemicals.  The diamond was my grandmother's and she wore it all the time--and one day, while doing dishes with it, she accidentally hit it on the sink and it has a small chip--The jeweler set it in my setting so the chip is hidden for the most part (and I love it regardless), but I have become paranooid and want to keep it safe.

  • For the most part I only take mine off to shower.  I feel funny without it! Im also affraid if I take it off too much I will lose it, totally me! Innocent

    Anniversary
  • I'm in the habit right now of taking it off when I get home, or when I go to bed (whenever I remember) and putting it on after my shower in the morning.

I don't like to sleep, shower, or cook in it - but as one of my friends says "every time you take it off is a chance to lose it".  So I make sure when it comes off that I have the box ready for it, and I know exactly where it's going (I'm one of those types who could forget where she puts her glasses when they're on the top of her head).

I wear it to exercise cardio (I am a part time aerobics instructor) - but it's tight enough I know it's not going to go flying.  I put it on a chain around my neck when I weightlift.

  • I take it off for messy cooking, that's it. I don't wear jewelry, ever, so for me it's easier to clean it than remember to put it back on or, *shudders* find it!
