[QUOTE]Are you sure?? This is what I've found several times... http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2011/04/08/government-shutdown-what-to-expect/ INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE: IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman said that if there is a government shutdown, the tax-return due date will remain April 18. Mr. Shulman encouraged taxpayers to e-file returns, because those are processed automatically and refunds would not be delayed. But he said there would be delays in processing paper returns and providing refunds for paper returns.

Cool. Ours will still be held up because of some other funky stuff though. They're already taking their sweet time with ours.

Since I'm religious and all, I think we're in the End Times. Now, I'm not saying it will happen in our lifetime, but there are so many signs here from Revelations.

I feel your pain! It's a matter of national security for FI to report to work since he is in federal law enforcement... but somehow compensating him doesn't fit the bill. He will be working on IOUs come Monday. It's cool, we don't need groceries or to pay the car insurance bill due next week. Oh, and al the civilians he works with... like the secretaries, cafeteria workrs and janitorial people at the federal building won't be there. So, basically they have to go to work with no support staff at all.

THERE ARE NO FEELINGS IN BUSINESS /> Isn't that like the first rule when it comes to serious chizz like this?

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Dear Congress... : Yup. Me too. We had to file on paper for federal because of some IRA thing we did. This whole situation is BS. Our government is run by a bunch of whiny little girls who act like they've unjustly had their dolls taken away.

Or whiney-ass little boys who've had their football taken away. I don't give a hairy rat's ass about your reasons for your attempted end-run around Roe v. Wade, your attempts to dismantle Medicare, or your thousand other petty little squabbles. You were elected to do a fucking job and actually LEAD this country! Get off your petty partisan asses and actually DO IT!!!
• Yeah, I would love to be proven wrong. Please!

And yes, it's because of planned parenthood funding. BS.

At least he'll eventually get paid for that time...my fiance is a civilian architect working for the Air Force. So, um, he just won't be allowed to work and won't ever get paid for that time. Awesome.

• I'm wondering if this will affect my dad. He's a janitor at a veterans' hospital. I just assumed keeping a hospital clean would be essential, but I don't know. My parents would be screwed if he's furloughed or doesn't get paid.
• Rosie and a golden shower reference. I'm shocked.
• I just sent in a tax check to the IRS. I wonder if they'll manage to process it. I'm thinking they will.

H is waiting for his refund. I guess he's going to keep on waiting, since he couldn't e-file (we filed separately this year).
• No worries Fische. I wrecked everyone's Memorial Day weekend by making them attend my wedding. It's all good.

• Obama said he would sign another CR (Continuing Resolution) if it didn't include any bs or extra provisions, but it appears Boehner has absolutely no control over the far right of the party. If he can't get them on the same page, any compromise they reach is going to be a failure.

What scares me isn't the possibility of a shutdown but rather the possibility of how long it might last.

Democrats have met in the middle on this issue several times now, but the far right of the Republican party doesn't want to play ball. They are convinced that "starving the beast" is the only way to effect change. But a LOT of Americans are going to suffer for it.
