Re: another 'first dance song' post

After several choices, I was surfing the web and came across  The Way You Love Me, by John Michael Montgomery.  This song is so perfect, I was almost like he spent time with us, and wrote this song about us.

My advice to couples out there, is keep and open mind and search the web, the perfect song will come, just like this one did for us.

We are using "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Jeffrey Gaines....it was originally done by Roberta Flack but that version is super slow. There is also a great version by Leona Lewis, but the Jeffrey Gaines version is a little more folksy, bluesy and slightly more uptempo....the lyrics are great though!

John and I are having trouble finding 'the song" too.  Everyone has a lot of good suggestions.  John likes the bandsTool and Rush and i dont mind those bands but i prefer most other styles of music.  Our wedding is in Nov. so we have a little time yet. We are going to Summerfest in Milwaukee WI this summer and we are hopping to hear the perfect song from one of the 100s of bands that are performing this year.   Our possibilities so far are from BB King, Bob Marley, Daughtry, Aerosmith, Dave Barnes.

We're using Ray LaMontagne "Let it be me". He has some great stuff. It's also nice because most people aren't too familiar with his music - makes for an original first dance song instead of the typical ones everyone seems to use.

We're using 'Everything' by Michael Buble.  It's got that classic Frank Sinatra feel, but is still very modern.  Just an option.  :)

We're dancing to "No One's Gonna Hurt You" by James Iha. Another good song from that same album is "Silver String".

I think another sweet song would be "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds.

We're getting married October 17th so i have 5 months to convince the FI to dance to Love of a Lifetime by Firehouse.  I'm also going to us Thank you for loving me by BonJovi during the reception to have all the couples come up and dance.

I have definitely decided though for the processional that i'm going to use Happy to be Stuck with You by Huey Lewis and The News. I think it's a fun way to start things off and no one will expect it. Smile

Corey Smith's First Dance is an EXCELLENT song. I am having my wedding in October and I have been leaning to this song as well. Very good lyrics and great meaning, of course I LOVE him too so I may be bias hahaha.

I have found a few songs by TCarterMusic on Youtube that are very meaningful as well.

This post is very fitting for me and my FI as well, bc I use to be a radio DJ so I love all types of music as well as him. So to pin point to just one song is hard.

We have thought also about doing a mix of three songs, one that is a message to him from me, one from him to me, and then one together.

EG. Angel Eyes- Jeff Healey Band, Everything-Bauble, and First Dance by Corey Smith

My cousin used that light rock song that's been out for a year or so, something along the lines of "My best friend". It was a nice representation of their relationship.

Might not be the most traditional but we're dancing to "Halo" by Beyonce and a second song, TIme by The Burned, after the father/daughter and mother/son dances where the bridal party will grab their significant other (hopefully people will get that they can join us). We loved both but Halo actually represents part of our relationship.
    Good Luck

I know it may be corny, but I believe we may be using "My Everything" by 98 degrees only because I always tell my fiance that he's my everything :) otherwise, I'd stay far from the boy band selection! lol

After much deliberation, we went with "Shining Star" by the Manhattans (his pick) with Mamma Cass' "Dream a Little Dream" as a backup.  Both are sweet little timeless songs.

My FI and I are huge Candlebox fans, and have spent a good deal of our 4 year relationship hitting concerts. We are dancing to "Breathe Me In' by Candlebox.. still trying to figure out how to break out our special moves at the end because it completely rocks out.

My FI wants to dance to "I Need You" by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.. I totally love the song but I'm not sure if its a good first dance song..But if he loves it, that's what we'll most likely go with!

My fiance and I have a while before our wedding next summer, but right away we knew our first dance song would be "My Best Days are Ahead of Me" by Danny Gokey. It's such an amazing song and it fits us perfectly!!!

Our wedding's in 5 months, so far we think we're using "lucky" by jason mraz and colbie calliat. The music at the wedding is very important to me so I've been doing tons of searching, here's some other ideas. The 1st list is all country ones and then some other good ones...

    Ordinary people - clay walker
Once in a lifetime love - alan jackson
When you say nothing at all - allison kraus
    Then - brad paisley
Never say die - dixie chicks
In this life - collin raye
The keeper of the stars - tracy lawrence
You are the love of my life - sammy kershaw & terri clark
From this moment - shania twain & bryan white
Now that i found you - terri clark
Love is a beautiful thing - phil vassar (good before the ceremony too)
    Some say - rascal flats

    NON COUNTRY-
Modern nature - sondre lerche (dan in real life soundtrack)
So happy together - the turtles
Someone like you - van morrison
Always you - sophie zelmani (my best friend's wedding soundtrack)
    Life after you - daughtry
Another country - tift merritt (new in town soundtrack)

    GOOD LUCK GIRLS! =)

I am walking the aisle by myself since my father passed so I am choosing to surprise everyone by mashing up the opening guitar rift of Jimmy Hendrix "Foxy Lady" with Eric Clpton's "Wonderful Tonight". Using garage band on my MAC has made mashing up songs fun. Good luck!

We are sooo excited! So we were talking to my mom and dad and talkin about how I always sing 'I Got You Babe' by Sonny and Cher. Well my mom said that she used to always sing that song to my dad too... We found the best version of that song ever! It's by Nite Bird and its an amazing version of 'I Got You Babe'!!!
